Ok, so I've been on the list for less than a week so I get to ask three dumb questions, right? 1. Is it worth splashing out $60 on Mike or Vicky. I don't want to produce wet dream fantasy girls (...well not all the time anyway) but I find it hard to get much gritty character into Poser 4 figures. And I definitely don't want to have to fork out again for clothes etc every time I do a new model. 2. Who is Posette? 3. Were waves designed with a specific function in mind other than keeping me up all night in frustrated fury at not having a cosine function on my calculator.

Well, you can produce very nice work with Posette (the defualt P4 female figure) but Vicky produces less artifacts when posing. But these can be fixed with a paint program or hidden behind something. I don't know of anyone who has figured out a good use for a wave distorter.

hey! i use wave deformers all the time. um, well, not ALL the time.... okay, i only use them on tongues, when i want the tongue to wave up and down, or on hair/spine accessories i want to wave/flow sideways and stuff. um, learn magnets, first ;) and the big hint is: remember the wave is actually a concentretic ripple type of wave, not a straight one. (try putting the wave on the ground plane and moving the indicator thingy around, you'll see.)

Don't just get Mike or Vickie for that price. I would go the extra money and get the cd if you can because there are clothes and stuffage for them. You will like them I think, especially the Vickie 2.0 Marque

I don't have Vicky so can't really comment on whether she is worth the money or not. However with the standard P4 character there are a huge amount of textures, clothing, morphs and characters, mostly free, which are more than enough for my needs. A look through the galleries will show you what is possible with this model and I have yet to see an image done with Vicky that has impressed me so much that I felt that I had to buy her.Or indeed an image done with Vicky that couldn't be duplicated with P4 woman. As for Mike depends whether you want a male character with breasts or not.

Waves are what put those realistic ripples on dresses, the semi-taut areas between the breasts on tops, and of course flags. Vicky's a good figure to have, but I agree: if I'd had the chance to buy the CDs I could have saved a lot of money...

Like Bebop, I too stick with Posette (which is just a name for the standard female that comes with Poser 4). I have not found the limits in working with her (the limits are still my capabilities). But there is now some nice stuff appearing for Vicky and Mike, so I have been tempted by the CDs. But I figure I'll keep learning with Posette for a while. - JimX

Thanks everyone. So a wave is for ripples, Posette is that bald chick with no hair in my default window, and Mike and Vickie arouse different feelings. I just have the impression that Posette looks a bit, well 'Posette. If a more configurable character will make it easier to create something a little less like a catwalk model it might be worth the cash. Special thanks to duanemoody. I just checked out your site (nice touch the biografiction on spectrophotography p ph ph pewwee!) and pinched a couple of P4 morphs. So I can put off the day I buy Mike. angola

Also check out Morphworld (part of Bbay). It's got a lot of ways to make The Dork (P4Male) and Posette (P4Female)look much less like androids. The Costume Shop CD from DAZ has 2 more variants of these modelss with a bunch of morph dials so that you can move one side of the face (as in a sneer) which helps make them less perfect, too. Many of the morphs on various sites have been created to make the models look like specific superheros or movie/TV stars. It is amazing what can be done with just the base characters! There are many textures to make Posette even prettier. We need more textures to make them both look more human and interesting. Carolly

angola, hauksdottir: In case I wasn't specific enough, check out The Head Shop on my site for 'full head' morphs for Posette and Vicky that make them into other less generic characters. I recommend the 'Judith' character for P4 available in Freestuff here -- she's a beaut.
