Attached Link: Gioia
Hi there - I'm interested in buying the lovely Gioia character available at Daz. I realize that it's Daz policy to restrict the type of promotional images used, however this makes buying decisions rather difficult (I've been disappointed on several occasions in the past because of not being able to fully see what I was getting in advance!). So, as long as it's no trouble, I was wondering if anyone who has the character might be able to post a couple of reasonably hi-res unclothed renders?I've PM'd the character creators asking for this along with some close up details (hands, feet, nipples etc), but I'm not sure if they'll be able to help or not...
Many thanks in advance!

Mostly I get very helpful responses from vendors, but I've had a few problems contacting people via PM at Daz - I think some vendors might log in less frequently there. I'm also not sure if there's any restriction on Daz vendors distributing nude images of their products? ...in fact, I've just noticed that the character has been advertised in the product showcase here, again with a clothed figure - I should have checked there before posting here oops!
onnetz posted Sun, 06 January 2008 at 3:04 AM
Send the vendor a sitemail through here as well. Also if you dont get a reply then you might try the customer service forum.
I think she's clothed here because of how old she looks.

Thanks for the advice :) I've just posted the request in their product showcase thread, so hopefully that'll reach them fairly quickly...
edit: to my mind, the character looks fairly old (mid 20s?) and certainly very 'womanly' ...so hopefully there shouldn't be a problem with nude promotional renders here...

Well, yes and no. There are a fair number, but to find a nice one can be tedious. I find that for dark skin that some people don't pay close attention to the palms, bottoms of feet, knees, elbows.. basically where skin tends to be either darker or lighter in colour. Also some go overboard with the yellow tone and the skin ends up looking sickly/jaundiced.

Rochelle from Romania by Angel Luciano (in RMP) is a good texture (V3). Morris has some nice black ones. I also like the morph of Renapd's Napolitana for V3 which is no longer available, unfortunately. I hate the way Daz has such small promos. You can hardly see the texture. I seldom buy characters from them unless I know the merchant from RR and trust them.

The best dark skin texture I've come across has to be by Rebelmommy called "Lucretia" that's sold over at RDNA. ( www.runtimedna.com/mod/bcs/index.php )
Back to topic...You can see more of Gioia over at the creator's website: www.tonypuryear.com/home.html#bwtop Just scroll about two thirds of the way down the page for more views of Gioia and some other characters he's working on.
In terms of skin/texturing, it doesn't look as if the textures are very realistic. Then again, I think he's going after cartoonish models with exaggerated body features look than he is with realism.

I couldn't agree more! Also, while I understand their reasons for promotional shot restrictions, I really think they should have some sort of mechanism for allowing customers to actually see what they're buying in advance! (possibly a forum that people could specifically register for - or even automated promotional email that people could request for specific products). Whatever, there are certainly many Daz products (and more than a few here) that I might have purchased if the promotional shots were detailed enough and/or the texture fully visible... I strongly suspect that quite a few others have a similar perspective.
Thanks again for the responses everyone!!!

Hi, it's me, Tony Puryear, co-creator of "Gioia for V4." I find all of these comments interesting and informative. I agree there aren't lots of great dark skin textures out there for sale. That was one of the main reasons I, along with noted 3D artist Damsel, started the Beautiful World line.
As an African-American 3D artist, I'm very sensitive to the notion that you can't just take a "white" skin texture and turn the dials down, for reasons described in the posts above. To make the models of the Beautiful World line, we start with the highest-quality human skin photography available, from all the relevant ethnic groups. Then we shade, test, shade, re-test, build and re-build these textures to make what we think are going to be the best ethnic models with the best premium textures around.
And yes, realism, while a virtue in 3D modeling, isn't the only virtue. We also set out to make interesting-looking, frankly beautiful characters, I emphasize characters. We want to make stars. To me there's nothing particularly "realistic" in the extreme looks of a Gong Li, a Naomi Campbell, a Salma Hayek. Not to compare our characters with these beauties, but they are an ideal. I hope you'll visit DAZ 3D and give one of our characters a try. I promise you a beautiful experience.
I agree that DAZ coud do itself and its vendors a service by expanding the size of the promo images. One thing this thread has done is persuade me that we need to do a better job of really showing our beautiful custom skins with the limited real estate DAZ provides. Thanks for the feedback, and keep writing!

well i looks wonderful in Poser for ME. you shouldnt tell others "dont waste your money" instead of just sayin what parts disappointed you. im sure the makers like feedback but to tell people not to buy because YOU wasnt satisfied defeats the purpose. maybe some of us did get good results with it? the makers most likely will make changes to make sure we ALL like it :)

The point is the merchant says the textures are photorealistic. They are not. Take a look at them close up after a render in firefly. The worst part is the eyelashes. My problem is with the lousy promos at Daz. They do not have closeup of the textures. Daz refunds money for 30 days so people can try it if they want and if they do not like it they can ask for a refund. I am stating my opinion. I seldom say negative things but in this case almost $17.00 is a lot for the low quality. If you own Vanessa from Daz, you will see the difference. I have a render of Vanessa in my gallery and she looks like a photo - the texture is so real. No one has to listen to my opinion they can make up their own minds. I am glad you like her so she was not a waste of money to you or others who like her.

It was discovered that the wrong body texture had been included in the package. The minute we found out about it, we took steps to rectify it. There will be an upgrade to the product for all buyers and they will be notified when it's ready for download. It is a much more realistic texture for the nipples and genitals and we thought it was in the package. We certainly apologize for this mistake. It will be taken care of for all buyers and we appreciate the interest in Gioia! As for the eyelashes, they rendered fine for me but I will definitely check that out drifterlee and if an upgrade for that is needed it will be fixed. Thanks to all for their input.

I have attached it as a "text file". But it's really an .htm file.
Right click the file to save to your desktop and then change the name to "menuplan.htm"
It is actually a Diabetic Diet Plan. I call it a "Reducing Plan" because I use it as a guide for my own eating when I'm trying to lose weight because a diabetic diet is the most healthy and sensible way to eat.
The basic meal plan shown on the far left is 1200 calories. In the hospital most diabetics are on an 1800 calorie diet plan. So what that means is that in addition to the amount of foods from each food groups listed in the "Basic Meal Plan", you add the following additional food groups to your daily food intake:
For a 1500 calorie per day food intake, eat the number of food groups in the "Basic Meal Plan" and add the following additional ones:
I do not recommend the 1,000 calorie because your body requires a certain amount of fuel to work from and 1,000 calories is often not enough. I tend to do the 1,200 calorie and depending on my food choices for the day, I find that often there is more food than I can consume and end up having my afternoon snack at bedtime :)
If you scroll down on that page you will see a list of foods for each food group. The nice thing about food groups that so long as you follow the portion size recommended, the fat and calorie intake is almost the same!

I think my only complaint with the face texture is some blurring around the eyebrows and the too strong lip line. But, I would say it's much better than some of the comments from earlier.
The morph is nice for a very curvy figure. She's actually not as idealistic as I had expected.
The face morph is what gives her a bit of a toony look- and that is due to some weird places in the geometry (the lips are sunken in a bit, which looks unnatural, and something else I've forgotten about.) It's not a bad thing, unless you are trying to achieve photo realism- which I think most folks aren't shooting for.
So...just to temper the thread, this is definitely not a bad character set. She definitely is different from most other characters- and the texture is better than many others I've gotten from here and other places (including daz)- though, there are a few imperfections, which means it's not quite as good as my favorites. The nipples don't look bad on smaller breasts, if you use the nipple morphs, btw. I guess if you zoomed up on them, they might look odd, but I'm not sure that is an important quality to me.

For Gioia's promos, and also those of the upcoming "Nhu for V4 by Beautiful World," I used the Topmodel Bikini by Bice, available here on Renderosity.
For the render of "Ynes for V4 by Third Degree" in the images above" I simply used the V4 Bodysuit, which has tons of morphs to hug even the most radical curves.
I have also found, and I've said this before, that the morphing clothing and lingerie by Hongyu can really be shaped for the curvier figures of the beautiful world models.
Hongyu has also told me that starting now, all his new clothing will have special morphs for the Beautiful World line. We are big fans of his, and are so honored he's taken a liking to our models.
Best of luck,

Yes it's true, she's Vietnamese, and she's fun and sweet and sexy as the scent of green papaya! 她很性感!
*Introducing Nhu, a new, premium photo-realistic character from Beautiful World. She’s a flirtatious young free spirit from Saigon. Okay, “Ho Chi Minh City,” sorry, Uncle Ho, but whatever you call it, it’s one of the world’s most rocking cities, and Nhu intends to rock it for all it’s worth.
A mixed-race beauty, Nhu sets a new standard in sensuous Poser modeling, an exotic new benchmark in personality and a seductive new level of fun. Welcome to a real world of ethnic beauty for V4!
Custom shaped by Hollywood writer/artist Tony Puryear (Eraser) and acclaimed 3D modeler Damsel, Nhu’s slender but curvy figure uses V4’s body morphs, so the new generation of morphing clothing will hug every sexy curve. Her photo-real skin texture comes with a custom shader option to bring her to vivid life down to the last freckle.
Load her in your runtime and Get Sexy! Get Nhu!
