I was looking at Amapi on the eovia site and it seems cool. I would like to know a little more about it before i consider buying it. A) Would i still use carrara? B)What are NURBS? C)Is the interface simple like Carrara's? D)How long does it take to learn how to use it? E)Is it buggy? F)Does it work well with Carrara? G)Does it support bones? Thanks Izuel

thanks ccp, i dled the trial and i think its a really difficult program to use. There too many tools... the camera moves around really fast too, i kept getting lost :). i dont think its somthing i need unless carrara users get a really nice offer.

Well, I don't use Carrara but only RayDream Studio. There are several things you can't be made under RayDream - and Carrara, I think. Indeed, NURBS and MetaNurbs models can't be done under RayDream/Carrara, but other modelling techniques like the Coons' and Gordon surfaces, and more common ones are much better under Amapi. For example, I had to do a boolean substraction to make a wheel. RayDream did the operation very slowly, and the final object was really high-weighted in vertices (several thousands !) ; under Amapi 4.15, the boolean operation was faster and the wheel only weighted 356 vertices ! Amapi is a "companion modeler" and should be used for its quality. If you want to have an overview of the complementarity between RayDream/Carrara and Amapi, have a look at my web site, in the Tutorials section. Fabien
