This is going to make me sound like a simpleton, but I've downloaded some true type fonts, and I don't know how to get them into my Photoshop font library. ??? Can someone help me?
Thanks,
Papawayne

when you are using windows .. you can Copy/install them to the FONTS folder in the windows
Then when you starts PS they are in the PS font list ..
Thats the way i do it :} possible other ways ..but this works fine

Just copy them to C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeFonts.

C:/Windows/Fonts is the path to folder with fonts.
Then go to File - Install New Font
In new window find the folder where you stored your new fonts.
In Upper window select fonts you want to install and click OK.

Thanks everybody -- three times over!
I didn't know that installing them to my Windows font library would get them to appear in Photoshop.
Thanks again.

keep in mind, if you install the fonts (as previously instructed...) while you have Photoshop open, the newly installed fonts WON'T appear.
This is because the Font Table is created when you launch PS and is not automaticlly updated.
if you find that fonts stop appearing in your font list while working in PS, you can delete the font table and have PS create a fresh on launch (look around your system for "Adobefnt.lst", and delete all found files, then restart the application.* )

Thanks, retrocity...
Now, if someone can just tell me why every time my stupid computer downloads and installs a stupid Microsoft update it goes berserk so bad I have to run the stupid restore system utility to get it functioning again!
Yeah, I know, don't tell me...join the I Hate Microsoft Club and buy a Mac. Maybe next Christmas.

You can also use fonts without installing them. But you have to open the font file and keep it open. It should then be listed when you click on the font list in what ever program. If you don't see it listed the click other and then you should see the font.
Nice way to do things if you just wanting to check out a font or will use it very little because you can keep these fonts in another no-install-font folder.

Now that is a cool tip! I tried it, it works, and I'm happy.
Thanks, hewee

Your welcome papawayne. Yes it is a great tip that I have used for over 6 years. Plus you have to worry about getting to many fonts install or having to uninstall and when you do it this way. Only install fonts your be using all the time.
