The last time I tried to learn Blender I couldn't get around the interface. Now I am giveing blender a second chance.

The video tutorals on the blender site do not teach how to do modeling. I know a bit about the interface now but I am totally lost in how to model anything. I know how to model fairly well in Shade.

I tried looking at the written tutorials but found that the interface in the tutorial is out of date as the buttons they talk about can not be found. Also, the tutorial I read had pages missing, even tho it is not far from the main page.

Oh well. How do I learn how to use Blender? And should I worry about the interface being messed around with each update?

Thank you for your time.

When I was learning Blender (and still learning), the tutorials at http://wiki.blender.org really helped me. BlenderNation has more good stuff. Also, try BlenderNewbies and BlenderArtists. Both BlenderNewbies and BlenderArtists have video tutorials.

It is better to do one thing well, than to do many things and excel at nothing.

I find a lot of tutorials have slightly out-of-date interfaces since lots of changes have been made to the interface lately.  Generally it's only a couple things each update, and once you get familiar with what panels do what you can probably find most things, so don't worry about that too much.  If a button seems to have moved, look around a bit in some of the other buttons windows and if you still can't find it just ask here :)

Another option you might try is this brilliant group of Blender Newbie tutorials by a wonderful clued-up Blender expert, and she uses version 2.45, which is current as of today (Monday, Jan 14th, 2008)... her stuff can be found here. I've found her approach very encouraging and well-written. There are more tutorials being developed as we speak...
