He guys,
dose anyone know any good tutorials for some awsome Antarctic landscape features?

such as:

Mountains coverd in snow with bits of visable rock,
(realistick and randomish)

tutorials for ice formations, (that go into into themsels to create caveish structures.

There are some good tutorials at geekatplay.com - cant' remember which one it is now, but there's one showing you how to get the snow looking like the wind blew it from a certain direction too.

Don't recall there being any there about ice formations though

Yes, shouldnt be to hard and there is a number of ways you could do it. You can have a mixed material and play with how it shows up on the terrain(altitude, direction, slope) or add a noise and bump funtion to create even more randomness. Also you could have a base terrain of snow and put in some gray rocks and make cliffs and spotts where there is no snow. or a combination of both.

For ice formations you can use rocks and give them an icy material. I bought the Cliffs and Caves pacage off of 3dcommune and it comes with some great cave and cliff rocks and materials. I have a site stored that has lots of great free ice materials but I can't find it. I will post it when i find it. 

It depends if your trying to create a huge scene of a large expanse of land or a close up of a singular area. I agree though Geekatplay has some great snow tutorials. There forums are small and very helpful though. post your WIP or idea there and im sure they will help you make it look awsome.

I am new to the 3d art world and am finding that to make things you want you need to use other objects. My recent work I need to make some tall islands that were smaller at the base than on top. the terrain does not allow that so I used rocks and tweaked them to look like islands.
