The local college where I teach Max at night has started a Video Game Level Design program in their continuing education department. These would be credited courses.
I would love to get in on the ground floor and apply for some of the openings. But I have never designed a game level nor worked in the industry. However, I feel I have the ability to teach the subject because I'm a quick learner, I work like a dog and I have you guys for help.
I would like your expert info on the following topics so as to prepare me to BS my way through the interview.
The proposed course offerings:
Introduction to the Gaming Industry
Introduction to Game Design
Introduction to 3D Computer Graphics (I already teach this)
Intorduction to 3D Animation (I already teach this)
Illustration I
Game Analysis (What the heck is this?)
Exploration of the Occupation I (Hmm, not sure about this either)
I would love any and all input on this.
Curtis

Pretty sure game analysis is stuff like, how is this game/level designed? what messages where they trying to convey? what are their assumptions about the audience? why did they do X? what did/didn't they do to keep the player engaged? That sort of stuff. Sort of like analyzing movies or books, but with the addition of things like user engagement, theory of fun, etc.

Thank you for your input.
Blender having a game engine integrated in it, have ther been any titles released using blender? I'm curious. I'm in the process of learning this amazingly powerful free software.

Not sure if there have been any titles released but there are a few game orientated forums at Blenderartists one of which deals with Game WIP's and demos.bandolin posted Tue, 22 January 2008 at 12:11 PM
