to be honest, I'd not use dynamic hair to start off with, it's a bit complicated and (to me anyway) looks horrible.
What figure are you trying to use there ? If it's Sydney, take a look in the hair/poser 7/Sydney G2 bit of your runtime. There's a couple of different hair's in there. Just double click on one and it'll appear on her head

Ahhhh! No wonder you are having trouble. You are trying to grow your own hair in the hair room. Many poser veterans even avoid that room like the plague! LOL
Try using ready made conforming hair or hair props, or even ready made dynamic hair.
Here are some links to some free hair that you can use. Hair is one of those things that you can use on any figure...even animals if you want to, just by using the parameter dial Scale, X Scale, Y Scale, Z Scale and the Trans dials XYZ. And then doing "Object" and "Change Parent' and picking the figure's head.
2 free conforming hair models towards the bottom:

Take heed of the wize one - aka Acadia.
One of the thigs that I looked forward to before I got Poser was making my own hair in the Hair Room. It didn't take long before I realise it was just beyond me.
Also note, again mentioned recently by Acadia, that any hair can easily be made to fit any character.(without any hair fits).
The Pose, Material and Cloth Rooms are the only useful rooms IMO.

I tried that and it just opened another Windows Explorer window with it in :o( I'll get there eventually though! :o)

I'm confused by all the abbreviations at the last 2 sites (the first 2 gave an error message)... I've got Poser 7, which abbreviations should I be looking for?
TIA!

You have to open it within Poser, not in windows itself

Hello Mandy,
Ok, leave the "hair room" and get back to the "pose room" (or studio as some call it) and than go to your library on the right and choose the "hair" section.
Now you see a list with "vendors" (sorry, I dont know how to call them else =S) double click on "Poser 7", another list apears.
Double click on "Sydney G2" (looking at your screeny, I think you use Sydney)
Now you see 4 types of hair. Use one of the last two.
SydneyStyle_1 or SydneyStyle_2
The other two are strand based (You see that in the name) and those are used in the "hair room"
Same as the "Sydney Follicle" thats a "scull cap" to grow hair on.
I fidled around with it a bit and leave it far away...way to dificult for now
If all wend well, there should be some hair on your figure now, or at least near the head
Ok, the good part is, this hair is also a figure.
On the top left of the window where your figure is you see "preview"
Under that you see a litle arrow and eather "SydneyG2" or Hair1 or hair2 (whatever you used)
Now Click on that arrow and you get a litle pulldown with both the figure and the hair in it, select the hair.
Now go to "figure" puldown in the top and select "conform to..." than select Sydney in that list and click "ok"
Voila, the hair snaps in place and stay's on the head of Sydney and stay's there..whatever you do with Sydney.
I hope this all made a bit sence
I am not a complete idiot, some
parts are missing :)

So I need to look for things with the abbreviation P4 as I don't have Daz3D yeah?

YES, I tried that too, but it`s only for Windows. I am running a Mac, any idea where I can download the same for Mac OSx?

I an a novice at this my self and tried hard to understand and manage the hairRoom. I didn`t find it very difficult, but gave it up because it brought my system right down to its knees. Now I am trying to learn the whereabouts of conforming hair. But when I use Sydney and one of her hairs in P7 I can allways conform it to her, but there are few possibilities to style it the way I want. Is this normal for conforming hair or is it possible if the hair has more morphs? Maybe Sidneys conf.hair has limited morphs?
MegaJax posted Mon, 10 March 2008 at 3:54 PM
You can always use magnets to morph the conforming hair yourself.

Is what you are saying that conforming hair does not have morphs and can only be styled with magnets? Or maybe I am not useing the right terms here...?
MegaJax posted Mon, 10 March 2008 at 5:17 PM
No!!! Conforming hair can have morphs built into it already, if whoever made it has added them, I just ment that if you can not get the results you want by using the built in morphs you can use magnets on it to make your own morphs. You could also use the Morph Brush Tool.

You can sometimes get away with just scaling x,y,z and moving the hair around. Most normal human heads are pretty much the same shape. Plus a minor fit problem is usually hidden by the hair anyway!
