Something new and different started happening today. Using Poser 5, I have a scene with V3, BV Hair and Elven Strapped clothes, and that's all.. it will render as a draft. But when I try a production quality render, it hangs up at 'adding objects' and just stops. I've never had this particular problem before. Suggestions would be deeply appreciated..
puzzled,

Are you shure your comp hangs up?
When I render in highest settings, it looks that Poser is freezing up.
Heck, even Windows task manager say's so, but actualy Poser works fine.
It just needs a lot of calculating to do and apears to freeze up.
I just let it run and go do something else, after some time Poser starts rendering.
I am not a complete idiot, some
parts are missing :)

if you're using Windoze, you can pull up task manager. If Poser shows as 'not responding', you might (not always will) be locked up. Sometimes you'll see the amount of memory changing, and percentages of computer time as well. It's still hummin'.
Another thing you can do is go to the processes tab, and see what those percentages are. If 'system idle' is at 99%, and doesn't change, you might be locked up.
Finally, the quickest way to see if you're locked up is to tap the Caps lock or Num Lock key, and watch the lights for them. If they don't change, you're locked up.
And if you've ever climbed a water tower with a bucket of paint to defend your sister's honor...you might be a redneck...;)
On some things, you might want to shut down background programs, browsers, etc., especially if you have a lot of figures in it. Just some thoughts.

Many thanks! I'll give it another whirl and see if time and patience (and turning off excess processes works).
