Cool rare, natural phenomenon captured by a camera for the first time.

Looks like you are the only one to think so Sean. What a couple of science geeks we must be. ;']

Man my TV lives on 4 channels:discovery, science, Halmark/tvLand (for the MAS*H reruns) though I own every season on DvD yet I still watch.

The History Channel has some good shows too. ;'P

I watch almost no regular tv..sticking with discovery, history, etc.  I do like the science stuff a lot.

Link doesn't give me the Kern Arc story...did it change?

Had a full "sundog" here yesterday.....ring entirely around the sun.....did I have the cam with me?....NO! Too damn cold anyway...LOL

Will have to check to see if the Kern Arc is different from the full "sundog"

Neat that you got to see such a large sundog, too bad no cam. :o( I updated the link to point to the specific page. The news had changed, had to go back to the January 29th page.

I found the  Nacreous Clouds facinating also.

THX Kort...I will have a peek.....
Will also look at the Nacreous Clouds....am familiar with Noctilucent Clouds but not Nacreous...

Looks like what I saw yesterday was just a  22 degree halo...pretty common stuff apparently....
Now that I know what the Kern Arc is, I will have to keep a keen lookout!

Yes, the Nacreous clouds are known as the "Mother of Pearl" clouds....I have heard of them but have yet to see them...

Fascinating stuff.....THX Kort.

Nacreous Clouds ... I actually see them quite often here in FL. Not very easy to photograph well though.
