The Empty Hall
J. M. Strother

Brown leaves scatter on the wind
Dancing through the empty hall
Seen by none, and so forgotten
Where once, life was joy for all.

Jesters, bards, have long departed
Dancers, here, no longer twirl
Darkness creeps through open doorway,
Banners lie in shadow, furled.

So much in such a small space.   This also applies to a variety of situations, allowing the readers to let it play in their memories.  Sometimes, I wish I had the ability to see film that runs in their minds when they read poetry.

Excellent wordsmithery! ;-)

I feel as if I'm wandering through an abandoned castle, and have stumbled into the great hall. Lovely images this evokes.

Hello Jon!
Lovely words to read after I wander back to the forum after months of absence, and probably wander off again for months...

Hope you're well.

Best wishes,
hanevi.

Hello, hanevi. I know life often gets in the way, but try not to be a stranger. Good to hear from you again.

Thanks for the kind words, CWT.
