The makers of Camtasia are giving away old versions free:
SnagIt screen capture tool:

I think they're both windows only...but they're free! Maybe the rest of you can get them to work in an emulator like wine?

Um, looks like the offer expired on Jan 7... or did I read the update note wrong? Would have been a great tool, too...

_< it does say that. Whooops. Someone told me about it just yesterday, and I didn't have any immediate use so I didn't try it, I just assumed it was still good.
