**The “Olympics of Game Art” contest offers $20,000 in cash prizes, finds new sponsors, and gains international scope
**
Montreal, Canada – February 08, 2008 – GCCore, parent company of leading game art community Gameartisans.org, announced today the Third Annual Dominance War competition. The game art contest invites members from nine major online communities from five different countries to create an original game-ready character. Prizes will be awarded to the top fifty entries, with prizes including PS3s, PSPs, Ipods, industry software and hardware such as Wacom Cintiqs and Maxon BodyPaint 3D and cash prizes totaling $20,000 cash. This year marks the first time the contest will be run in five different languages (English, Russian, French, Korean, and Chinese), making it the largest international game art competition of its kind.
“It is my goal to make the Dominance War art competition into a form of Olympics for game artists,” said Fredrik Hultqvist, contest organizer and GCCore founder. “Artists of all skill levels can compete against the best, compete to win prizes, compete to become better, compete for global recognition, and compete to make something truly great.”
Dominance War III is aimed at uniting the real time art community on a global basis. By encouraging communication across continents and language barriers, Hultqvist hopes to promote the sharing of techniques, tips, and of course, good artwork.
Dominance War III also marks the first year the contest will have official industry sponsors. Sponsors include Blizzard Entertainment, EA Mobile, Ensemble Studios, Infinity Ward, Maxon, Saber Interactive and 38 Studios.
"The last two years of this competition have truly been amazing, and this year is shaping up to be even bigger," representatives from Ensemble Entertainment said. "It's bringing artists together from all over the world! Projects like these help tap into the sheer passion of the art community, and we are looking forward to seeing the creativity and execution that the Dominance War competition brings forth this year."
Saber Interactive was similarly enthusiastic; "With new categories, prizes, and overall cash provided (plus employment opportunities), this year's effort should be a blast for every artist that enters the competition. A great part of our success as a company has been directly attributable to our high-end scholar-level technical artists, classical artists, accomplished leads and art design. It should be an incredibly fulfilling experience for us and them to see what his year's artists bring to the WAR!"
Dominance War III is set to begin February 15th, 2008. More information on Dominance War III can be found at www.dominancewar.com or by emailing Joe Mirabello at joem@dominancewar.com
