"I hate it! It should be exactly like Aiko 3 but better!"
"What a rip off! Sharing the mesh with V4 so I don't have to buy completely different clothing for the new figure? It means I don't get to bitch about all the extra money I have to spend on new textures and clothing! How dare they!"

Me, I'm waiting for the early adopters to get things ironed-out (for V 4.2 and A4) :)
I figure I can go get 'em in a few weeks or so... A3 has her faults, but she's quite usable (whereas A1 -> A3 was a huge improvement, A4 appears to be minor tweaks and the nice bennie of having V4's body). V4 is usable in her current form, so no biggie there, either.

Keith, that's pretty funny, you've pretty much summed up every negative comment I've read over at Daz. The funniest was the people complaining that shee looked too cartoon. Sometime people just miss the point, I think.
Well, I'm going to hold off for a bit. I never use V4 as it is, though I've spent a bit of cash on some nice original morphs for her. I am quite fond of A3. I'm sure A4 will be cool in a year when there is plenty of sci-fi add ons for her.

I Like her but I always thought Aiko had better joints than V4. Now, They are the same. Doesn't matter much to me, I never used Aiko anyway...at the end of the day it's always nice to have more morphs for v4.

Where's the problems and complaints I'm entitled to ? I feel cheated and let down by Daz 'cause I got nothin' to bitch about.
V4.2 / A4 upgraded fine load fine work fine I like them and will happily use them ..... must be something wrong with me, P7 and my Mac I guess.

Well, my Vaikorphia 4.$ has loaded alright (to an external runtime), and initialized without a complaint, but I haven't had time to try her/him/it out yet. Maybe I should wait for pdxjim's Vaikorphiattorio 4.$ before really attempting anything bold?

What gets me is that for months and months people chomp at the bit about a new figure, then days before they know it's going to be released that's all they can talk about.
When it's finally released many jump on the bandwagon and go out and buy it, then spend days, weeks and months complaining about what's wrong with it and what a waste of money it is.
Why do people feel they always need to be the first in line to get the latest toy when they know through history that they never come off the assembly line free of problems?

Which 4.$ will we get to complain about next? Vaikhirorphiattorio, Vaikorphiattoriavid, Vaikorphiattorichael, or maybe Vaikorphiattoriavidichael? Is there a chance we could be surprised with Vaikorphiattoriephanie?

You can fix the broken eyes problem by installing A4 the same way you upgrade V4. DAZ sort of dropped the ball by not explaining, very clearly, that A4 was fundamentally an upgrade to V4.2, and had to be installed the same way.

Some people require 'the latest toy' to keep up customer support. We're not all dumb, just forced to keep up with the dumb people and, to avoid hurting my user base, early adopters. Others require this stuff early to get an early start on developing commercial content.
Not everyone jumping on the boat early is a dumb user... ;P

Anyway, I´m also not so crazy in new Aiko. What´s also funny is, that the PC Gear by Batlab will cost about 20 $ at DAZ; here the same cloth cost 7 $ only (Ok not for new Aiko).

Agree with you pengy. I think I posted this elsewhere around here but A1 to A3 was a vast improvement in function and looks (debatable to some, I'm sure), whereas A3 to A4? Eh? A3 is still very useable. There was/is never a problem with marketing stuff for A3 or V3 so it would have been just as good a move to have A4 standalone - and potentially more profitable.
Funny how the reasons change constantly, eh?
Okay, V1 was a standalone figure and V2 was a morphs package. V3 was a brand new unimesh for various reasons. Now A4 is a morph for V4. Step forward, step backward, step forward. Are we line dancing yet?
hehe
Only thing I dislike is the whole V4 in the core runtime setup. Bleh. Fix a problem to step backward.

Agreed - though I have successfully set up a (albeit dumb) V4.1 Runtime for that base figure, one for V4 and all the V4 stuff, and (prolly now) one for V4.2. I think I'll (eventually) stick the A4 stuff in the V4.2 Runtime.

I've only used V4 once since jumping on the bandwagon and getting her when she first came out. Now I picked up the A4 Starter pack, but it's more for the reasons Sivana mentioned, it was a good deal. I figured better to spend 15 bucks now then twice as much sometime later.
Mind you, there was a time when i justified this whole hobby with using it for commercial purposes, but those times have fast diminished and what profit I made never did compare to money spent. A little profit early on sent me into a spending frenzy from which i still have not fully recovered.
I can't self justify the money I've spent on Poser and Daz (and Renderosity, et al) with the excuse of "bobbies cost money". I'm really at a loss.
By the time I use A4 and V4 they probably will be sold in some clearance sale because V5 and A5 have just been released.
Ergh...

Because we are compulsive spendthrifts. Actually, A4 is free for PC members, so don't buy her if you can't get her for free. She's not worth it. You can morph V4 yourself.

Hey don't lump everything under that heading, though I am sure you didn't mean to. Many quality makers have managed to release products, figures that worked perfectly, without need for service releases one, two, or more, from day one.
Rushed/bugged products and mismanaged beta-testing souldn't be suggested as something expected or normal just because it is expected from Daz
Just my two cents.

^^ agree 100%, and it should be a big embarassment to DAZ that they keep making really pretty boneheaded mistakes on their big rollouts. But since so many consumers are wetting themselves trying to be the first to get whatever they release, no matter the state of it, I guess they don't really need to be embarassed do they?

I'm still using V4.0 so I've got no chance with this one :) I'm still sitting on the fence with this whole V4.2/A4 thing - I don't really fancy all the faffing around to get her out of my poser runtime

Err, not so fast, campers... this ain't a DAZ-only phenomenon. How many of you got Vista last year? Got Leopard when it first came out? Got Poser (any version after 4) when it came out? Bought an HD-DVD player? (okay, that one was a format war, but you get the jist...) Hell - I remember purchasing a half-dozen shiny new Hewlett-Packard DL-585's a couple jobs back (they went for about $25,000 each - came with four Opterons and 32GB of RAM apiece). I discovered to my horror that using NFS on them tended to kill off the 2nd embedded network port. Not exactly the best way to run a High-Availability critical service... HP took months to get around to fixing it (and I was stuck with purchasing seperate NICs as a workaround). Now couple all of this with the fact that the majority of folks have happily installed and used V4.2 without so much as a peep of trouble... Vicky isn't exactly a simple Lingerie set or a prop here... pushing boundaries and trying to keep compatibility at the same time isn't exactly something that everyone gets right the first time. /P (...and Anton, you should know better than to snipe in with a catty remark there, bub. You ain't perfect either.)

I Like her just fine, for me since I skipped A3 the upgrade was a non issue. Anytime you get more use out of a fig Im all for it, they share clothes and all. TThey also have male counterparts...Whats not to love?
Eyes work fine for me as well.
