Got it myself..ImageSynth is a fantastic plug in..mostly.Sometimes theres alot of obvious patterns.I wish someone would develop a plugin as easy as imageSynth for making a PROPER bump map out of a color image.

> Quote - I wish someone would develop a plugin as easy as imageSynth for making a PROPER bump map out of a color image.Take a look at a Crazy Bump. It's in beta at the moment, but it works very well. You can use the displacement map it generates as a bump in Vue (or as displacement, of course!).

This looks promising.Someday Vue WILL support normal mapping(; Althought Cinema just caught on..so who knows:D

Issue #101 comes to bookstores near the end of next week in the USA.
bruno021 posted Wed, 27 February 2008 at 5:45 AM
3DW always come at the end of a month with the Month+2 issue number, so folks in the States have the right issue at the right time, and here in Europe, we are a month ahead, even a little more for UK subscribers.

Just re-subscribed. Ouch! 75 pounds is a lot of cash... But, it saves a lot of time and money running around trying to find a copy.

I agree with you Peggy on the OUCH! part. For one issue here in Malaysia it is 83 ringit.which is like 25 USD! So as far as "FREE" content goes..not as far as my wallet is concerned:D Lovely mag though.

Peggy, I can't see why you're paying 75 ukp. If you're in the UK, the current rate is 50 ukp, a bit less if you take a 2 year subscription. For US readers it's on offer for $99 which is about 50 ukp. If you paid more maybe you should ask for a refund of the excess?

Nope, I'm on the other side of the pond... I looked at the site - 60 pounds USA, 75 pounds elsewhere. So, I think I paid 60 pounds (will check to be sure). With the exchange rate though, it still hurts. I had to make a choice - 3DWorld or ImagineFX. Could not afford both anymore.

Hmmm, I sent off an e-mail asking 3D World magazine why the difference in the subscription rate I was charged. Here's their answer...
*Prices are set by the Publishers throughout the year. There are special offers
available at various rates advertised both within the magazine and online. Some
subscription promotions feature a discounted rate and others advertise at the
standard rate. To qualify for the discount, the source promotional code must be
applied at the point of order.
I am sorry you have seen an offer which you prefer, however, I am unable to
refund the difference against the original offer under which you subscribed.
Soo, buyer beware - if they send you a notice to re-subscribe, throw it away since it will have the highest price. Great customer service. This is the last subscription I will get from any of their magazines.

Just a note to say that after a few e-mails, 3D World magazine has extended my subscription 3 months to cover the overcharge.
It does pay to complain, and they did listen. Thank you 3D World magazine staff!
