This stuff has been around through several versions of Carrara.
It is a cool way to present something to a client...

My sample is simple, but you can do walk-through houses, tool details, whatever and it works with animations too. I'm doing a project for a client that shows a golf green. The viewer can rotate and zoom in to the green from any angle to see all the bumps, elevations, etc.

FIRST You have to have the plug-in for your browser, but the authoring part is included in Carrara (file/save as/VET). Took me a while to find the help files in the installation folder for Carrara = Web Export folder/docs

Get the browser plug in viewer here:

I've also had "Enliven" for ages, but haven't had the time to learn how it works.

Was this not what Metacreations turned in to after divesting them selves from all the cool software that they had at one point. I think the technology is very cool, but to me, the demise of Metacreations was one of the saddest days for the software world. No other company has come close to producing cooler and more innovative software. Sure we have a lot more sophisticated stuff today, but back in that day, this stuff was revolutionary.

I could be mistaken about Viewpoint and Metacreations link, but my point about the demise of Metacreations still stands.

Possible.
I haven't kept track of Metacreations... used to have a lot of their software before they went off radar.

Apparently this VET export is one more feature exclusive to Windows users. I don't seem to have it. Unless it's part of a extra install.

I looked it up, Veiwpoint was what was left of Metacreations, I guess they bet all their money on the wrong horse.

I used VET all the time until the license keys went from free to $999 for posting online without a watermark.  MetaCreations became Viewpoint.  They thought 3D web browsers were going to be the best app ever, even better than Poser, Bryce, RayDream, etc.  There are so many 3D web browsers now.  Anywhere from Onlive! Traveler (VRML) to games now like WoW.

Nate
Are not RayDream--Poser, Bryce, Carrara ---all part of the same ,original, Metacreations development thread?

U3d file saving to Photoshop etc/and or PDF have made Vet very, very out of date has it not?

Anark has made Viewpoint a footnote.
