It's a bit of a contradiction, but I am in fact a long-time Poser Newbie. I've owned Poser since version 4 (perhaps even earlier, but my memory is dim), upgrading along the way, and never really had much time to devote to it, therefore keeping myself in a perpetual state of newbie-ness. I'm looking to change that (time permitting), and to that extent, I've been visiting this forum and one or two others looking for general newbie tips.
I offer my sincerest thanks to all the devoted experts who have taken time to share their expertise - I'd be even more lost without your help!
The first issue for me, having upgraded to Poser 7 a couple months ago, was to find a way to organize my runtime files better so the program would load quicker. I've come across several threads with various strategies, but so far the most effective method I've found is to store nearly all my characters, props, poses, etc in the Download/Runtime folder. The only drawback is that it can get hard to sort through everything when I'm creating a scene. On the plus side, the program does seem to load faster and is a bit more responsive... or am I just imagining that it is?
Are there any other strategies I should consider to streamline Poser and make the time I spend with it more efficient (boy, that's a loaded question!)?
At any rate, I'm running Poser 7 on a Mac Dual 2GHz G5 with about 5.5 GB RAM and 600GB storage, which seems to handle things pretty well, though I will be upgrading all my computers within the next year to Intel-based Macs (cha-ching!).
That's my introduction to the Poser Forums! Thanks for reading, and keep the good advice coming!
