Hello,

I have ds 2.0 installed along with Victoria 4.2.

in the content display I have this LOD item appear.

After checking in my "How to break code and secret cyphers" pocket book I found to my delight that this was in fact Level of detail!!
Great, I thought.. this could be the icing on the cake.
Firmly selecting LOD .......with trembling finger ...the whole program locked up.
Has anyone got this feature to work ?
Or rather whats the secret?
Looks  like it could be useful.
Sorry still a newbie.
But thanks.

Should mention that LOD is in the V4.2 folder.
Thanks

Did you have V4.2 loaded and selected when you applied the LoD script? It works for me, for what that's worth. You can apply the LoD yourself, if the script won't work - select V4.2, then in the Edit menu Add level of detail.... and navigate to contentdatablMilWom_v4b_68498LOD in the Studio folder and select the OBJ you want, repeating as needed.

Thanks , yes 4.2 was loaded and selected but as soon as I selected the LOD  everything just locked up.I will try as you suggest, access content/data...
What does this allow you to do when it is working, like extra detail available, is this by way of extra morphs?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Blueblott LOD actually allows you LESS detail! The way its set up with v4.2 you get the hi-res BASE and 3 lower res versions. You can then choose to have lower res on the screen but use the hi-res when rendering. Or you can get it to use the successively lower res versions the further they are from the camera. And only send the resolutions required when rendering. The idea is to speed up the construction of a scene and/or allow more figures in a scene.

**Thanks Prixat,

I understand now,thats fine.
In that case will not worry about it too much as I am still in the early learning stages, can see the benefit of having it though.
Thankyou for your help.
Cheers Blueblott.**
