That's Jessi alright!

At least they could have done is used a more attractive figure than Jessi! I'll never get over the fact that she looks like an alien from another planet!

NOSTRIL GLOW - DAMN THEM.
We Poser users get abused for crappy renders and its because of crap like this. We'll never live it down.
CBS put nostril glow into millions of televisions across America. I saw it last night and I almost screamed!
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I assume that their art department was given the assignment to come up with an appropriate background image to go along with the story, and so they slapped this graphic together in a hurry. Jessi works for a pay scale that amounts to less than petty cash at a network like CBS: not even loose pocket change. Somebody needs to introduce them to Victoria.
Nostril glow or no........does this type of application qualify Poser as a software package with professional uses? I'd say so........it'd be interesting to walk into the art department section at CBS headquarters, and to see Poser boxes sitting up on the shelves in the worker's desk carrels.

would have taken them all of 30 seconds or so to get rid of that glow too. Muppets

There must be some way to do a "missionary outreach" to
users like that .... get them to join Rendo or Daz forums
where they can quickly learn how to do it right.
Might call the church "Our Lady of the Luminous Nostrils."
Dave-So posted Mon, 17 March 2008 at 5:29 PM
that's too funny...I was falling asleep when they showed that graphhic and didn't even notice the glow :)
Its a bad one, too. Maybe you really can't call it professional use when you see something as glaring as that ! ;)

now this is funny, i only had my base Poser installed at work, and i put a small image of jessi on our company website and my boss made me take it down saying she looked too angry!
JOELGLAINE posted Mon, 17 March 2008 at 6:26 PM
They just needed ANY poser figure with a big enough forehead to print all them ZZZZZZZZZ's on.
Noone other than Jessi qualifies!

Poser was still used in the professional capacity the professional who used it, used it in an amateurish level. I would say poser is now moving into the professional ranks

Yep. Pretty soon Jessi will be taking over that anchorette's job. And she'll work for a lot less money, too.
Anyone remember "Max Headroom"?
Miss Nancy posted Mon, 17 March 2008 at 7:08 PM
"Max Headroom" was portrayed by an human actor named .... something.
I never saw the show, but there was some controversy about it for some reason.
being a news anchor may look like an airhead could do it, but it's a very confusing job.
not to mention the ratings problems. anyway, one of us can call up cbs and tell 'em
we could do the job for 'em.
richcz3 posted Mon, 17 March 2008 at 7:21 PM
Poser is used allot more professionally than many lead on. But honestly allot of work is layered composite work. It would be inappropriate to say "x" piece was produced in Poser.
Yes Poser has a professional stigma within 3D groups, but most execs/managers/producers aren't involved with that level of idiocy. Some of the work I've done with CBS used Poser models rendered in Poser or Lightwave - you use what assets and tools you have to get the job done. It's that simple. None of my work was ever used in a televised production.

Hey -- I'll take it! But only for $20,000,000 a year. Any less and I'd be selling myself short.
Yes, I am aware of the fact that Max Headroom was portrayed by a human actor, voice acting behind 80's-era graphics. But the idea of a purely AI 'Max Headroom' might be feasible before too much longer. Maybe they can whip one up in Poser.
XENOPHONZ posted Mon, 17 March 2008 at 10:00 PM
BTW - in order for the "real" anchor to achieve the nostril-glow effect, she'd have to cram two white LED's up her nose. Or perhaps a couple of Mag-Lite Solitaires might do the trick. It'd probably be painful, though. And she'd end up talking funny as she read the news.
Jessi, or the other Poser figures, can do the trick for nuthin'!

Maybe they could re-use the graphic for a piece on radioactive boogers.
SoCalRoberta posted Tue, 18 March 2008 at 8:12 PM
Nostril glow aside, I think it's pretty darn neat that this high budget show picked a Poser Girl instead of one of the very expensive ladies at turbosquid.
nightfir posted Wed, 19 March 2008 at 1:19 AM
lol radioactive boogers. but then jessie would have that nice green glow to her nostrils.
pjz99 posted Wed, 19 March 2008 at 3:19 AM
Honestly none of the Turbosquid models - NONE OF THEM - are very flexible, even the most popular. None have hands that are rigged terribly well, "10 morph targets" for the range of facial expression, you're lucky if they're rigged at all. Ever notice how none of the promo art shows the hands in anything more than a very basic, prosaic pose?
