How do you make shadows darker & crisper without making the figure too bright?

I am trying to match the dark crisp shadows from the figure in the original picture in my poser scene. The original figure for example is in the bottom left.

I have 2 lights so far, an IBL probe to light the scene with a poser 7 probe attached, shadows off & an infinite light for the shadows.

If I turn up the light colour / intensity to get darker shadows, the figure is too bright.
