How do you load new textures for characters and objects?
I tried to and it didn't work.

In the surface tab settings select the area of the model from the "tree" that you wish to apply the texture to (or you can use the surface select tool). Once selected find the diffuse parameter also in the surface tab. Beside the box for color there is a little arrow. Click it and then select browse, now you just need to find the path where your texture is saved.
