As I was in Los Angeles last Friday for some night shooting. I came across this car fire on the way to my first location.
These are a few from it. After I got home and saw them all, I realized how bad my framing and composition was on most of them. I had way too much foreground in the shots (not seen on these since I cropped them). But I was using the center Auto Focus spot in my Canon Xti. I would have been wise to set it to the Center Lower. Using the Center one had my POV to low. all I needed to do was pan up a bit more.
Just shows me how much I have to yet learn about shooting images that you can't take 2 mins to set up on a tripod. LOL. Anyway. It was a learning exp. and I am still happy to have got these shots that evening. Shot at ISO 800 with a 75-300 zoom.
Had an LAPD officer approach me and told me I could get closer if I wanted (thought he was gonna tell me to back off). Turns out he is a photog too. So we chatted for a while about photog and exchanged emails.
Anyway, All in the car got out safely, no one was hurt. :-) I over heard one officer telling the guy I was talking to that the owner said he had been working on his stereo amp earlier that day. Might have left an exposed wire! Ya Think??
Enjoy.
