Hi All.

This forum used to be a bustle of energy and I've been gone so long I thought I'd be way behind? What happened?  Maybe it's time we got a few word games organised again to get those grey matter juices circulating again.

Here's a challenge for the writers forum....

In South Africa where I am it is autumn and heading towards winter season where the sweetpeas are to be planted etc..

In either a poem or a short prose, give us a colorful description of the season your country is headed into......

Come on people....
**
**I DARE YA!

Post you entries here in this thread. Closing date 30th April!

think we must all be headed into the that-went-over-like-a-lead-balloon season ...

I was watching Mythbusters on TV the other night and they actually made a balloon out of lead - it  actually  floated!!!

LoL

Funny, we're past the closing date of this challenge, and I'm still thinking of something. I keep trying to write, but stuff just keeps happening and I'm incredibly distracted.  Ugh...oh well...I'll write something!  Late or not!

SusiQ posted Mon, 02 June 2008 at 12:59 AM

Hiya Chipka,

Due to no one really responding I left this as an open challenge. So please feel free to share your work.

I know all about getting distracted!! LoL

Here's my take on the season in New York...

**Sticky, the air hums,
Violent thunder rent the stillness;
The dogs are laying in air cooled palances
While the masters toil in the foul heavy hot air.

Not even the eighth month on my calendar,
That month of ancient dog days;
Nor the sixth,
when all the school building began to vacate and bake;
Somewhere in between, I am lost in the mist of  my mindscape;
as I sit here on the sandy blanket, looking out at the green water
under my little round shaped shade.**

Is this what you mean?

Oh that is so descriptive it almost takes me there and I'm gasping for air in the humidity and we're mid winter!
Fantastic, ThunderStone!

My short contribution! LoL
have a great day all!

Tingling wet noses not belonging to the hounds
Drip in time to the miserable sleet and rain.
Numb and icy fingers trying to type in time.
Jittering clattering chompers stutter the sentences
As we communicate our discomfit.

Hot hands holding heated mugs of brandied coffee
Snuggling lovers sharing thick blankets on sofas
in front of neglected blaring tvs
Delicious homemade soup from mum
simmers slowly on the stove

Ahh yes,
Winter time is here

You 2 are pretty good! Well DONE! Outstanding artwork both of you too! Since I happened upon this writing challenge, I thought I would enter some of my stuff too... Most of my writing is songwriting and poetry... LOL

By the way, I am looking for folks with all kinds of talent to help me create games at Eternium Entertainment if you're interested.

Mercy Cries (Words & Music by LyzonLightheart) 4 – 29 – 2008

(VERSE 1: )

Before the beginning,

God was the Word.

God was Mercy.

God was Life.

God was Light.

With a single phrase,

Became the beginning.

With a single phrase,

Mercy created everything.

With a single phrase,

the Lord God Almighty,

Yahweh Cried Mercy.

(CHORUS 1: )

Mercy cries consider

Mercy cries forgive

Mercy cries believe

Mercy cries decide

Mercy cries sing

Mercy cries dream

Mercy cries live

Mercy cries begin

Mercy cries deliver

Mercy cries Mercy

Mercy can't be denied

Mercy cries wow

Mercy cries now

Mercy cries belong

Mercy cries underdog

Mercy cries under God

Mercy cries I can

Mercy cries I am

(VERSE 2: )

When you hear the world's laughing eyes

Come upon you by death's design

They say that only two things are certain

There is only death.

There is only taxes.

When he that is in the world.

Reminds you of your past

Simply proclaim his future.

For the wisdom of man,

Is built upon shifting sands

And like everything in the world,

Satan's wisdom is folly.

And it too shall pass.

Because only mercy stands.

Because only mercy lasts.

(CHORUS 2: )

Mercy knows no end

Mercy cries life

Mercy cries light

Mercy cries enough

Mercy cries love

Mercy cries soul

Mercy cries song

Mercy cries God

Mercy is never wrong

God cries mercy

Mercy cries water

Mercy cries fire

Mercy cries desire
Mercy cries know

Mercy is our Spirit

Mercy is our Father.

Mercy is Jesus Christ

(VERSE 3:)

On a hill called Golgotha

Mercy which knew no wrong

Mercy cried forgive them

Mercy was slaughtered

Mercy, man thought was gone

Mercy cried man is wrong

Mercy cried when God died

Mercy cried I am is defiled

Mercy cried and we didn't die

Mercy cried sin is death

Mercy cried death has died

And three days later

Mercy cried behold

Mercy cried away the stone

Mercy cries forever

Mercy cries I am is alive

(CHORUS 1: )

Mercy cries consider

Mercy cries forgive

Mercy cries believe

Mercy cries decide

Mercy cries sing

Mercy cries dream

Mercy cries live

Mercy cries begin

Mercy cries deliver

Mercy cries Mercy

Mercy can't be denied

Mercy cries wow

Mercy cries now

Mercy cries belong

Mercy cries underdog

Mercy cries under God

Mercy cries I can

Mercy cries I am

(VERSE 4:)

Although my song has come to end

Tomorrow morning mercy will be new

The mercy train has come for you

Mercy cries it matter not what you've done

The conductor proclaims my grace is enough

And my blood bought your seat

His mercy cries simply accept and believe

Oh, the mercy train is coming

Don't ya want to go when mercy cries follow

Mercy cries I am coming to take you home.

Mercy cries from this day you are never alone.

(CHORUS 2: )

Mercy knows no end

Mercy cries life

Mercy cries light

Mercy cries enough

Mercy cries love

Mercy cries soul

Mercy cries song

Mercy cries God

Mercy is never wrong

God cries mercy

Mercy cries water

Mercy cries fire

Mercy cries desire
Mercy cries know

Mercy is our Spirit

Mercy is our Father.

Mercy is Jesus Christ

September Approaches J. M. Strother

September approaches, but with August heat, as

As summer attempts to hold its tenacious grip.

But even now, in August's last days,

Some leaves turn an early red,

Harbingers, they say, of a long cold winter.

In but weeks the jackets will come out,

Then the gloves, the hats, the scarves

And we will lament, as always, the loss of the glorious summer

Even as we forget how we cursed the heat.

Hi, SusiQ. I saw your challenge months ago. It was good to see your name again, and apologize for taking so long to actually get around to responding to it.  I keep checking in here periodically hoping things will once again pick up, but it seems to remain quiet. I know, I'm part of the problem, by failing to post.  I'll keep checking back periodically, but do not have great hopes that things will pick up. Take care.
