I downloaded and ran the carrara update 6.1.1 with no problem.
I downloaded the 6.1.2 update and it loaded and asked for my language and then said "Carrara 6 pro is not installed on this computer." I tried it again, running as administrator with no results?
Carrara Pro 6 is installed and works so any ideas?
Thank you.

I have had this happening, sort of. That happened after I renamed Carrara.
Did you do that? The installer is not too intelligent in that department...

This will also happen if you try to install the Render Node instead of the actual Pro application on the same computer.

Make sure that you take a look at page 432 in the Carrara manual also.

Mark
You might have misposted as page 432 refers to anything glows.
Thank you both for your help. But still no go.

That's what happens when they make idiot proof installers that won't let you browse to your install directory. :tt2:

Matrix
I agree I still cant install it.

Have you tried renaming it to the old directory name and then renaming it back to whatever it is you have now? Or, if you have it in the proper directory, have you tried reinstalling Carrara 6 Pro base and THEN installing the 6.1.2 update? Just a thought.

Lost
I havent renamed carrara so I will try reinstalling Carrara 6 base. Thank you.
LostinSpaceman posted Sun, 04 May 2008 at 9:13 PM
Did it help? The only reason I ask is sometimes installers are programmed to look for the original install and won't recognise upgraded installs. Lousy programing I know, but i've run into it before.
jackhalsey posted Mon, 05 May 2008 at 12:59 PM
I tried it but I reinstalled it and then did the first update and same problem with the second. Should I reinstall it and just jump to the second update? Amazing they dont have an option to manually set path.
LostinSpaceman posted Mon, 05 May 2008 at 10:22 PM
that was kind of my point of reinstalling the base and then the latest update. You shouldn't need the first update as it would obviously be in the second update already.
jackhalsey posted Thu, 08 May 2008 at 12:11 PM
okay will try that althought it would have been easier if they would have included a way to manually point the way to the correct path.
Thank you.

Are you using the right patch? I just had the same problem with the 6.2 patch. It seems I inadvertantly downloaded the patch for C6 Standard instead of the Pro version.
jackhalsey posted Wed, 14 May 2008 at 11:12 AM
Thank you but it was the right patch....must just be my machine but even that doesnt make sense.
sparrownightmare posted Mon, 02 June 2008 at 9:26 AM
I has that with the 6.1.2 installer, and I have C6 installed into the default directory. I fo not have the render node on this box either so I just think it's a wonky installer. I ended up waiting to patch from 6.1.1 until the 6.2 patch came out. That one worked fine.
