Has anyone ever seen this error message in Poser 4 when starting up? It says, "REQUESTED WINDOW SIZE TOO LARGE. CREATING THE NEXT BEST THING."  But on clicking OK, Poser opens with NO window at all. Window size is set to 360 x 240.

I have Poser 5 and also, from time to time, get that phrase too.  When you state that you don't get a window, is everything fine when you open new file or do you still come up with no window at all?  Jan

I used to get that sometimes with Poser 5. Haven't gotten it at all with Poser 6 though.

Just click "OK", and see what your scene window shows up as. Then just set it to what you want again, and resave your preferences.

If I recall, sometimes the window was mini mini, and sometimes it was the same size, but way off the screen almost hidden behind the tool bar.

If that doesn't work, change your preferences to "factory settings", then close and reopen poser again.  Then set up the interface the way you want and resave your settings again.

  1. There is no window after trying to open files
  2. When I click OK Poser opens with no window at all
  3. If I change window size it makes no difference

I have had this problem before as well.  The "factory default" function did not resolve the issue.  I had to delete the prefs file.  Essentially resetting the size and placement of interface elements completely.

Do a search on the forum about deleting the prefs file.  That should solve your issue.

Quote - 1. There is no window after trying to open files

Go to the Edit menu option and set your preferences to open at Factory Default.

Then close poser, and reopen it again. It should be the way it was initially installed.

Then set up the interface the way you want it again, then go back to your Edit menu and set your preferences to "preferred".

Acadia's suggestion, which I should have thought of, solved it 99%. That is to say, I got my my window back, but it's larger than the "preferred." No problem though.

My thanks to everybody for pitching in.

You can change the size of your window, if you desire.  Go to your window's drop down menu and open up document window size and change the settings.  Don't forget to go back to your  general preferences and click on preferred state under document preference--Jan

I think this is what I did, but I'll check. Thanks.
