Hey, all! This month's render challenge is to utilize those primitives! Use the primitives included in Poser to enhance, or even create your image :)Full rules are on the Challenge Page, linked at the top of this post :)

Based on the image they show as an example on the page linked to, I'd say the answer to that is yes.

Oh, absolutely :) But, for the challenge, you have to at least use one primitive as your focus (I used the sphere). Or, if you choose, you can create your entire image out of primitives.

Wow. I had a lot of fun with this one. I've been thinking to do a piece with only primitives for a long time.
Good luck to all.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Hey, guys, just as a note....when you submit your entry, can you give me at least 6 hours to approve it? There have been a few times this past week where people submitted two or three times while I was sleeping. And, well, LOL, it's hard for me to approve entries in my sleep ;) If, for any reason, your entry isn't approved, you'll get an email and a sitemail from me :)

Since it's not an official Rosity contest, it doesn't seem to be that important to them.

Hey All,
JenX is having some issues with her ISP, so I'm going to help out here on the challenge and get this ball rolling.
Now, there were some entries that hadn't gotten approved yet but were in by the deadline, so I am going to leave the challenge voting open until Tuesday night {CST} to give those entries a chance at getting some votes.
I'll announce when the challenge voting has ended and a winner is chosen.
Thanks for your patience gang :)

Well, it wouldn't have been 3 weeks because the contest deadline was on the 5th. It's the voting that hasn't been done.

It seems to suggest not all entries are in yet.
But everyone has been voting away, but haven't seen all the challenge images???
How can you vote without all the images being in?
The idea is that you vote when you can judge all the images against each other.
But it appears there are some images we haven't even seen yet!
That the hell's going on here?

ps
An unkind person might suggest that with the hundreds of images pouring through Renderosity each day, only 19 people have bothered to take up this challenge.
I have participated in about 4 so far and each one have turned into farce. Someone's on holidays, someone's off sick, moving house, now a fire
I think I also said something like this before, "take these things seriously, or why should we Rendo?"
There may be no prize, but a bit of respect would be nice.

Ok, let me put this a different way, there were actually 2 images that had not been approved yet when I got here, which is why I let the voting go longer. All the images are in and have been since I posted that.
I'm sorry that you feel that anyone is being disrespectful, but these are real people, with real life issues, and it is unavoidable.
These challenges are done for fun, and if issues crop up that cannot be avoided, and a challenge runs a little longer than expected, or the voting runs a little longer than expected..where's the harm in it really?? How can that be deemed as disrespectful??
I'll be announcing the winner tonight.

Not any problem with anything you said but it would have been nice if someone would have let us know what was happening BEFORE people started asking.

Well, to be quite honest, the admins were not aware of the various challenges going on unattended until it was brought to our attention. {there are more going on than just this one} Once I heard of the problem I jumped on it to get it finished up, and only then learned that there were still images pending.
I myself do not have the time I used to to browse thru the various forums, nor do any of the other admins...we do however try to keep an eye out when we can, but some things do slip by us..we're only human and can only do so much at once ya know

The last one that was posted on the 5th is the last one I released..and after thinking about it a bit further, I think it might have been that duplicate you told me about. {smacks self}
That only leaves 1 image in pending, and that one is not going to make it out it looks like..it doesn't conform to the challenge rules, and I have actually been waiting on an edit from the entrant...so if it doesn't make it in by tonight then all the images are posted that are going to be posted to vote on.
I'll probably give it until midnight and then announce the winner.

Where I work we know who is responsible for what.
We don't just stumble across problems.
Surely it's someone's job is to run the challenges?
It' pretty simple really, you take the submissions, you look at them and approve them, then close the challenge.
My 13 year old daughter could do this in the dark.
What is so complex about running this type of thing! A chook raffle.
The last, the very last I'm just not going to bother anymore. The whole thing's become a joke.

You know, I can't believe how upset people are getting because the "winner" hasn't been announced.
This is not a real contest. There is no prize involved other than the title of "winning image" based on a vote.
Who cares if it takes longer to get the results. For crying out loud, Jen had a house fire. Doesn't that mean anything to anyone? Jumpy came in and picked up the ball, but give the girls a break. Jumpy has other resonsibilities other than this forum now, plus she has a life to live too.
This is nothing to get your nose bent out of shape over, or you undies tied up in knotts about.
Just be patient. The winner will be announced when the winner is announced.
You aren't out of anything but a bit of time, and not even that because you actually spent the time doing something productive and made an image. If anything it created an excuse to give you a creative spark.
So please, stop jumping all over people about this, and don't take your ball and go home because the announcement is late in coming.
These mini challenges are something fun for the forum and not to be taken seriously. If people give the staff a hard time, these challenges won't be done and then we all miss out.
