Subject: Vue 6 Infinite & Windows System Recommendations

dstephany ( ) posted Thu, 15 May 2008 at 1:11 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 8:44 PM

Greetings!!

I currently am using Vue 6 Infinite using a Dell Core 2 duo...with 4 gig of RAM at 1.86 GHz and I'm thinking of upgrading so I can get better performance out of Vue.

My main issue is this whole business of Poser imports. I simply want to be able to import as much as I want, quickly and easily without any problems.

To that end...can anyone make some recommendations regarding specs and price ? I've always had good service from Dell and would prefer sticking with them.

Thanks! :)

Well, said it before... :)
get custom build.

Antec 900 gamer case

8 gig ram DDR2

ASUS P5K-E motherboard, or better, do NOT get a DDR3 memory type motherboard for a couple of years, by the way, too expensive.

600+ watt PSU with a long lead, as the ANtec's design puts the motherboards power input jack very far form the PSU, Hiper are good make.

at least two 500 gig hard drives, best get 3, RAID one to back up main system drive.

Standard DVD writer for back ups.

Vista 64 bit Ultimate

An 8600 or 8800 Nvidia video card with at least 512 RAM memory, really helps with OPEN gl display.

Get a reliable shop to build it for ya  never ever get PCs built by small store wannabes unless you know them well.

:)

This is my rig, sorry room is a mess, "I R Geek"! :p

There is a binder with a label which starts with "Vue". What is the following digit? 2 or ... SEVEN?

Bye!!!

P.S.: thanks a lot for the info, your rig is almost what I am going to have build in the next months.

GIMP 2.7.4, Inkscape 0.48, Genetica 3.6 Basic, FilterForge 3 Professional, Blender 2.61, SketchUp 8, PoserPro 2012, Vue 10 Infinite, World Machine 2.3, GeoControl 2

Vue2 ;)
keep a LOT of tutorials, but most on hard drive :)

Dstephany,
including monitor, Vista and building costs it was about £1400. Convert that directly to dollars, $1400 if in States, I'd guess (as US costs are much lower)
I didn't get it made by cheapest route, just most convenient for me.

I used an Antec 900 in my March 2007 build.  Great case!  Matched it with Razer Tarantula keyboard and Razer Copperhead mouse so my work (play?) area is suffused with righteous blue glowiness.
