Yes - you are using Vista! LOL.
Actually I don' t know why that is. I experience delays on my Vista machine when opening simple Photoshop or Illustrator documents. Those same docs open up instantly, without delay on my machine running XP Pro.
I experience the same problem and don't know why.

Great! PS is the only one that do this in Vista... Maybe I need to wait for version 7.

Hi Stephenbuck415 I received an answer to my question in the Adobe forum that give the solution to the loading delay problem:

PSE 6 trial long time to load a file
There are two common causes of a long delay:
PSE queries the default printer when it starts and perhaps whenever you open a file in the Editor, and people have reported delays if the printer is slow to respond (bad programming on Adobe's part). You can troubleshoot this by setting your default printer to a "virtual" printer that writes its output to your local disk. Adobe suggests downloading the printer driver for their Generic Postscript Printer, but you could also use Windows' Add Printer to add a Generic / Text Only printer, and then set that as the default.
You could search these forums for "Intel VIIV" for details, but a number of people have found that uninstalling or reinstalling that software causes startup delays in PSE to go away. You don't give specific details, but it sounds like you're experiencing delays after the Editor is already open, so this may not be your problem. But it's easy to check. Set a restore point and uninstall the Intel software.
Have fun now my PSE is loading images faster!!
