Hi

I see there's an update to Version 8.4 device driver available for my ATI Radeon X1600 Pro (512 MB), but I've seen posts from time to time about problems with some of the recent drivers.
Does anyone here have any input as to problems with this version while using Poser, or any other 3D programs and modeling programs we use in conjunction with poser?

Many thanks!

Err, I just found another recent thread that addresses this question, but it doesn't mention what the latest version number  that's known to cause problems?

I have an x1600 and I'm using the latest driver (XP).  It's ok, however, if I have too many objects in my scene, the opengl slows WAY down and I have to switch from opengl preview to software preview.

I forget what ATI driver version it is that resolves the slowdown, but I heard that you also lose some features when going to the old drivers.

You might wanna search this forum for ATI OPENGL DRIVER, that might help.

I downgraded to version 7.12, because the newer drivers caused major problems with Poser 7 and Wings3d. There´s a fix for the Poser problem, but the material-room still was slowed down pretty bad. I wasn´t able to use Wings3d any more because it crashed after importing an obj-file. Although I´m too stupid to use it for modeling purposes ( and too lazy to learn ) it has a pretty good and easy to use uvmapper.
