Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has written any tutorials for transmapping hair ?
I'd like to try this on some of the older P2 and P4 hair props.
thanks,
Andrew

i wanna know too,

Koz and Maya X do it so well, so i woudn't be surprised if there is a Japanese hosted tute somewhere, seeing as they were doing it ages ago.

Hello, any takers ?

Do you mean painting the transmap?

If you do, I don't know of any tuts, I have done it for myself, just using various different hair brushes, there are lots in the marketplace. It is basically just a case of painting white hairs on a black background, following the UV map. I found the brushes in these sets very helpful -

Thanks, Anniebel.
I guess that's what I am looking for - if that is all that is required to create a more realistic hair prop. BTW, who is that absolutely adorable little doggie in your avatar ?

I don't want to disappoint you but the old P4 hair cannot really be successfully transmapped due to the way it was modelled.  In the past there have been some attempts but the only decent ones were Allerleirauh's transmapping of the long, curly hair and Kozaburo's transmapped versions of 2 of the male hairstyles.   In fact those two seem to still be available at his site:  http://digitalbabes2.com/  check the 2nd page of downloads.   I seem to recall a very old tutorial written by him as well but I don't see that available anymore.

Well I did find it after all and it's dated 10/25/1999 !   It was actually one of the first few attempts at transmapping hair on a spherical type object so that's why it's probably not still available - being outdated and such but so revolutionary for it's time :)
