Anyone else having this problem? I just got the Daz free dystopia blocks and now I can't use any lightwave files in Bryce.

They may be in a newer version of LWO than Bryce can read (need to be specified as v5 or v6 but not v7 or higher, IIRC).

Have you got any other LWOs you can try ?

Bryce can only read LWO 1 files - most .LWO stuff these days is LWO 2.
You can try opening the file in a text editor, the type should be at the top of the file.
i.e. LWO2TAG

Oh oh.  I have Bryce 5 and I have some lwo files that I previously could open, but can't now.  Even the converters I have won't successfully convert them to other formats that do work. :c(  Could it be just a corrupt download from DAZ?  Bt then... now that I think about it, I should be be able to even view "samples" of the file in the converter windows. Hmmmmm confuzzed.

Took the download and they're LWO 2 files. They loaded into Modo and FormZ  just fine.

But did you notice that there are also free Poser versions?
If you have DAZ Studio or Poser, you can load them in to it and either export to .OBJ if you're using 5.0.1 or use the D|S bridge with 5.5.

Whew... I'll have to do that then with the poser versions.  Hope that works.  Thanks for the help Dan.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I imported them into Bryce once (version 5...I think...;), and they were flaky about texturing and such, but I was finally able to get them to behave. You could probably check with Moebius, to see if he has any suggestions. He hangs here at the Poser forum sometimes, sometimes in the Freepository at Daz, and has his own web site as well (Team Dystopia).

Thanks for the info Pak.  Currently I'm doing the Poser -> Bryce route and texturing there.  Slow going, but, it's happening, AND it has been teaching me a thing or two about poser that makes it a little more interesting to me other than a "pinup randomizer".
