Caught the tail end of a beautiful sunset last night, so here's my first posting. Going home to Scotland for a week this month, will be looking out for more opportunities to capture something special then.

My share to the contest??   Haven't been shown before.

The bird (Solsort in Danish) is singing for the whole neighborhood and more. So great to listen to. Taken at 20:56 (8.56 PM)

Kind regards

Here's one shot at the wrong time of day, so I changed perspective and laid down to get this shot with the shadows.

Hi Guys = what about us down here in the southern hemisphere, theres no summer for us, will "warmish" winter scenes and winter silhouettes suffice??

these entries are all superb! Although some of the entries seem very low quality, as if they have been over edited or resized, but my favourite image so far is Meowgli! What a beautiful image, very powerful! Keep the awesome posts coming

oleg_b posted Tue, 10 June 2008 at 2:11 AM

Hi everybody, I am here because of Lashia who invited me, thanks her. So here are some pictures from me hope you like it. This one I've took last friday when I was biking. Have a nice day or evening.

oleg_b posted Tue, 10 June 2008 at 2:13 AM

oleg_b posted Tue, 10 June 2008 at 2:22 AM

And last one because of 3 pictures I could put here, this one also from Italy, from Comacchio. This is very nice place like a little Venice.

girsempa posted Tue, 10 June 2008 at 6:24 PM

Well I didn't get out for this one, just stayed in my living room ;o)) I hope it fits the theme all the same... there's evening shadows and silhouettes, so why not..? ;o)

Thanks Camara man.  Here is another one.

ElusiveAngel posted Fri, 13 June 2008 at 9:38 AM

Okay, I am new to this.  Is there no way that you can upload the 3 images that you may upload at the same time?  Or is it better to do it this way?

Enjoy guys.  This was a sunset in the heart of the bushveld.

some more good entries, and welcome ElusiveAngel, really liked your second entry with the slight silhouette of the mountainside =)
favourites so far have to be the crane from Alz2008 and the final entry from oleg_b, very nice. i'll keep shooting with the theme in mind and post anything worthwhile should I manage it... haven't seen many shadows yet so might go for a wander if tonight's 'golden hour' is any good ;)

Wow!  Some great stuff in here.  I just took this sunday.

Meowgli posted Thu, 19 June 2008 at 7:58 PM

I'm liking what I'm seeing, some good stuff... I was out this morning taking sunrise pics then remembered this month's theme and thought I'd swing the camera round and take a shot of my somewhat distorted shadows on the rocks (makes me look like i'm sitting/crouching down!).. you can make out the camera on a tripod too.. this is my second entry (first one a silhouette) maybe I'll find time to do another before the month is out... looking forward to seeing more great images. I'm new to this, so bear with me. A very simple one shot on my driveway this morning. Have a hard time getting out when the sun is right. Anyway, here it is .. a long shadow.

My brother and his partner just bought another house, and I went down there last Saturday to take a bunch of "before" images.

This is a 1922 fully-leaded window in the living room, looking at the house across the street.  The slight distortion is due to the waviness of each pane of glass.

Some really fine photos here  : )

Took this early this am as I sat on the deck watching a storm roll in.

So where do they go when a photograph leaves you speechless?

The photo is "Solstice Sunset from Leuchtenburg castle". This is a view from the western wall looking through the trees towards the summer solstice sun setting beyond the hills. The castle walls are partially restored but this area was still open enough to climb up and get a picture of the setting sun through the trees. It was worth the drive.  21 Jun 2008, Leuchtenburg, Germany.

BobKemper posted Sat, 28 June 2008 at 4:44 PM

The photo is "Sunset Watcher". This lady and some associates were also at Leuchtenburg castle watching the summer solstice sun sink towards the horizon. She climbed up on the same wall where I was, while the others were relaxing at a park bench. I went over to talk with her for a moment and get a photo before I left. Friendly, and didn't mind having her photo taken. 21 Jun 2008, Leuchtenburg, Germany.

BobKemper posted Sat, 28 June 2008 at 5:06 PM

The photo is "Shadows". The long stretched out shadows of the trees and the big shadow from the balloon are signals that this particular journey is coming to an end. It was a wonderful flight and a completely unique experience, but just like the long days of summer it couldn't last forever. This picture was taken about two minutes before the pilot told us to take our landing positions. We touched down shortly afterwards in the dark green field just beyond the treeline, and well short of the power-lines in the middle of the light tan field. Great way to end a summer day! 26 Jun 2008, Oberaich, Germany
