Hi anyone can help me to figure out why my Blender 2.46 is getting slower every time i use it. I'm using Blender 2.46 on AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GB DDR2 with an onboard VGA card of 256 MB ATI Radeon. It really annoying especially when you are trying to model and use bones. Any advices are very welcome. Thx

I used to have an ATI card I was trying to get to work with Blender. It didn't work well at all. Don't quote me, but I believe it was the poor OpenGL (drivers) for the card that held it back. It was a pci card with extra memory (versus the onboard one which worked better). I finally gave up and bought a NVidia GeForce model.

Thank you very much reddog9, i guess you are right. because even in my pentium 4 1GB DDR RAM and with 256 MB NVidia Geforce4 i didn't find any problem at all. Thankz a bunch again

I use an ATI card with no slow down problems, what OS and drivers are you using?

What setting did u use gog, can you tell me please. I'm using windows XP prof SP2, driver the newest one, 8.5 i think.

I'm using win 2k, with catalyst 5.3 control centre / 8.1 driver (NOTE will try it on kubuntu 8.04 in the next few days and see what happens there

okay, will wait what the result from u. i now installing the 8.5 DD for ATI, as untill now my blender work just fine except i can't use my sculpt mode. they say it was a bug from ATI

I had this too, when i tried an windows pentium optimized version from graphical.org it went away so i think its an compiler isseu.

runs fine on both ubuntu and kubuntu 8.04 with no slow down using the ati drivers that ubuntu ID's as latest version didn't have the time to check version sorry!
