Some of the new features are:

Cloth simulation

Render baking
Skinning improvements

I love Blender for modeling and morphing. It's the real deal. The key to learning Blender is learning the hot keys. I can jet around in it like nobody's business! :O)

I made a database of hot keys, got to about 4-500 before I got lost...;) off to update. Do you need a new version of Python to go with it?

Blender 2.46 uses Python 2.5.
