dhama posted Fri, 06 June 2008 at 7:24 AM
Won't HDRshop convert them?
dyret posted Fri, 06 June 2008 at 7:41 AM
eh... maybe? the files are called hdr, but Bryce dont recognise them. I dont have HDRshop and now Bryce have totaly closed down th computer i use for it. So I'm not able to try it for a while.

I did a while ago find a few by looking in the Poser forum. I'm using them now. Try searching for HDRI over there. They seem to better than the once who came with Bryce.
dhama posted Fri, 06 June 2008 at 2:00 PM
Well I think they need to be light probe type, so if you do a search for 'lightprobe' specific HDR's then they should work with Bryce.
AgentSmith posted Fri, 06 June 2008 at 5:00 PM
Yeah, these aren't all that great to use in Bryce, they are in the wrong format and would need to be converted in HDRShop. But, even after converting, you are going to have that giant black band that they all have showing up in all your reflections and would look weird.
I used to have a link in the forum header that many links to Bryce usable hdri's, gone now. ;o(

Ah, there it be, thanks! ;oD
Btw...The specific type of "format" to look for (the type of HDRI Bryce accepts) will be called either "Mirrored Ball" or "Angular Map". I've converted HDRI's from the "Latitude/Longitude" format to both Mirrored Ball and Angular Map, and Bryce accepted both.
"Light Probe" also works when searching for HDRI's, yet that was the term Debevec gave to his first HDRI's, before the various format/layouts existed, so keep that in mind.

I've got HDRShop, so how do you convert these into Bryce type .hdr's so you can use them?

Dyret, I believe HDRshop version 1 can be gotten free here [
http://projects.ict.usc.edu/graphics/HDRShop/](http://projects.ict.usc.edu/graphics/HDRShop/)
I got my copy free from a 3D mag a while back.
Curious, has anyone tried this freeware HDRI software [
http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html](http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html) ?
Checkout the features in the sidebar.
