I got an image of  1200 x 780 pixels, so how do you make the "kb"  smaller  if  I whant my image to be that size in pixels but smaller in kb, I try and the only thing I can do is samller images in pixels, please anyone help, I got gimp for image editing.

In Photoshop go to File > Save for Web. Select 2-up or 4-up. Use the Quality slider on right side. Or you could click the  >>  (lower right of Done Button) and choose Optimize to File Size and input a kb size. Click the  >>  again and select Repopulate Views.

Photobucket In GIMP you can save as JPEG and move the quality slider for smaller KB. If you tick the preview box then you can see if you go too far and loose too much quality!

For those using Photoshop, you don't actually have to go through "Save for Web" either (it seems to be the only advice given - just letting you all know there's a quickie way) - you can just Save As>jpeg - when you name it and hit Okay, the quality slider will then come up - just like the GIMP example.

You will have the option of quality 1-12 (lowest to highest) and Ps will give you the file-size it will be depending on the quality you want to choose - just like in the GIMP example above.

In fact, here's the dialog box for PS.
