Seeing as though so many of us here have a deep love for science fiction and fantasy films I thought I'd pass along the sad news that Stan Winston passed away today.
Even if you don't know his name, I'm sure most of us know and appreciate his work in practical creature effects. His credits include The Terminator, Jurassic Park, Aliens, Predator, and Galaxy Quest just to name a few.
Be sure to have a look at his IMDB page.

That's so sad :(

Here is his website. He has a huge number of credits to his name from films, tv, commercials and even music videos.

Very sad indeed.

And don't forget the cult classic that he directed, Pumpkinhead.

An incredible loss, the man was an inspiration to a generation.  When I was in Film School, back in the early 90's, we spoke his name with the same reverence as Scorsese, Wells and such.

A friend of mine worked at Dreamworks and had a chance to visit Stan Winston's studio.  He said it was one of the most amazing places he's ever been.  The guy did some truly impressive work.
