Hello everyone. I am sorry to bother, but I have a problem. I've been browsing several threads on this topic, but nobody seems to know the right way to "allocate memory for poser." I'd like to give out this info so that maybe you guys can help me find a solution for this:
Basic:
Poser 6
Windows Vista
64.4GB used space
83.1 GB free space
I tried:
Defragmentation
Using 1GB USB Drive as Ready Boost (Helped for a short while.)
Pretty much, Poser won't let me save any of my work any longer. The weird thing is that I am working with huge resolution and quality renders, and I have absolutely no problem with that. The problem is that the message "increase memory allocated for poser...." appears whenever I try to Save or Save as. Apparently, the 1GB USB drive is out of memory, too (It lasted less than a week)?
In any case, can someone please tell me the correct way to restore or increase memory allocated for Poser 6? I'd really appreciate your help.

The message about allocating memory is a red herring - you don't need to do that, and can't anyway on Windows. It's a hangover from the Mac origins of the Poser code. What it really means is "something bad has happened for which there is no error message". :/ As to what that might be, I don't know; but there may be a Vista issue. Some of these strange problems go away with attention to the swap file on earlier Windows versions. I suppose the procedure may be different for you, so I'll leave the floor to those who use Vista.

You could try watching memory/virtual memory usage while using Poser (use Task Manager). I suspect the swap file - it may be too small. While Windows dynamically increases swap file size when needed, Poser is too impatient - it tends to hang up whenever Windows needs to increase the swap file size. Solution: use a custom sized swap file of at least 4 GB minimum size.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Sorry for my ignorance, but could you give more details on the custom sized swap file? How do you create/ use it? (A series of steps would be nice =3 )

From the error it looks like you didn't install any Service Release.

Try these threads. They are for XP, but might be the same in Vista

I've read somewhere that a severe memoryproblem is caused by the latest wga tool (windows genuine advantage) in combination with poser 7. Perhaps the same counts for poser 6? It's a pitty I don't remember where I read this but as I remember it said that the recent wga made poser 7 hang using 99% cpu. Sorry that I have nothing more to offer than hearsay.
