I forgot to say this anywhere - if you're using Poser Pro with built-in gamma correction, these might not work too well. The reason is I already built gamma correction into these shaders.

In each shader, there is a node labelled PM:Gamma. The value is 2.2. If you want to use Poser's gamma correction instead, change that value to a 1. Then it becomes linear.

Also forgot to say that you can change the colors. Open a shader in the mat room. Look in the upper left area. Most have a SimpleColor - change that or plug stuff into it and make it white. Others use patterns, and you'll find one or two EdgeBlend(s) with two colors in it, or sometimes a Clouds node with two colors. The default color is that carnation-red. Where you see that, you'll know that's what to change. Several of the shaders mix that red with white or black. You can change the white or black, too, in most cases.

I'm looking forward to some renders from you guys! Some of the shaders (the plain glass ones) should work great on any prop. Try the "ThinGlass" one for windows.

Really? I thought it was open to all.

Anybody else? Did you have to log in?

I am able to download the zip without logging in.  But maybe that's because I'm the site owner and even though I'm logged out it somehow knows? As far as I can tell, if I'm not logged in, then I'm an anonymous user like anybody else.

Acadia - this is the google site I was talking about. I can make you an author/collaborator, which means you can post and edit documents on the site.

Then we can assemble (little by little) all those material links nicely, instead of having to keep adding to a thread.

Interested?

@infinity: See? Public access to all - no login required as far as I know.

@acadia: I think you will need a google account (or gmail account works, too). It's easy to set up. PM me your email address and I'll use the form above to invite you. I think that's how it works.

Glad you guys like them.

Don't be afraid to open the shader and mess with the colors.

You can attach image maps too.

Here I'm using the "Pickled" shader. It makes the appearance of a nested sphere that is floating in liquid. I grabbed a map of the earth:

http://www.evl.uic.edu/pape/data/Earth/512/PathfinderMap.jpg

Then I attached it to the shader as shown. Click the image to see the the instructions.

Most of the shaders are really easy to do this with as they have a SimpleColor node for you to attach other nodes - just connect an image to the SimpleColor. Set the SimpleColor to White if you want the image colors to show exactly as they are. Or put another color in to "tint" the image.

Jupiter in #2, OpaqueFS.

FS stands for the bump style - using the FractalSum node.
Cel is using the Cellular node.

You can replace those bumps, too. Plug your own bump map or nodes into it. It will work with any bump pattern.

#20, Rotor, is particularly interesting. You can connect two image maps to it, bypassing the stripes that are built in.

Thanks a ton for all of this. But have an OT question. I can't seem to find the final results and the voting ended some days back. How did you do in the Have a ball primitives contest. I did my best Mayor Daley imitation and voted early and often for your entry :thumbupboth:

bagginsbill posted Wed, 25 June 2008 at 2:12 PM

The voting didn't end. One admin had a house fire, and didn't have a chance to deal with the contest.

Another admin came along, and postponed the announcement, because there was one entry that had not been approved, but was submitted before the deadline. Then there was some question about whether or not said entry met the conditions. It was then announced that the winner would be declared at midnight last night. Which hasn't happened. Now there are pissed people wanting blood.

Not me. I don't really mind if the admins are unable to process the contest. It's just a silly contest and delaying it hurts nobody - there is no prize, other than pride, and I'm already pretty certain my ego (large as it already is) will not be affected much either way.

Thanks for the vote!
