In the attached picture, you can see the problem in the subject's lower eyelids, and also (to a lesser extent) his lower lip.
I've tried a few lighting combinations but cannot get rid of it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew

there are a number of threads here on how to eliminate nostril glow,
from poser 4 thru the current version.

It looks to me like you don't have shadows turned on?

If you already have shadows on, then you may need to decrease your shadow min bias. You may also need to increase your shadow map size (for depth-mapped shadows). Do not use 256 - ever. Go to 1024 at least.
Raytraced shadows are the best of all. However, they don't behave well with displaced surfaces so sometimes you have to use depth-mapped.

bagginsbill,
When you say "shadows on", are you referring to the checkbox in the Render settings which says "Cast shadows" ?
thanks,
Andrew

Yes and also on the light. They both have to be on.
If you're using raytraced shadows, you also have to enable raytracing.

Bagginsbill,
If you have a large number of lights, do you have to check that each one has shadows turned on ? ... is there a quicker way, e.g. do you know of a python script ?
thanks,
Andrew

Uhoh. You have a large number of lights? Hmm.
A Python script could be built to automate that. However, the bigger question is, why do you have a large number of lights?!?
Which Poser are you using? In particular, are you using a large number of lights because you're in Poser 5 and do not have IBL?
Faking ambience with a large number lights is just not the way to go with Poser 6 and up. You should be using IBL.
Many Poser 5 light sets were created with a ton of lights and no shadows on most of them, because making 20 or 30 good-quality shadow maps would take a loooong time. Light sets like that will always produce those glowing surfaces.
If you're using Poser 6 or better, you really only need two lights for basic even lighting of a single figure. Sometimes you use one more as a rim light (from behind). You never need more than 4 to do a portrait.
After you come back and tell me which Poser you have, we can talk about what to do. If you have Poser 6 or better, I'll show you how to use IBL and one or two directional lights for good portrait lighting.

Bagginsbill,
I have P7 SR2.1. The "large number of lights" was a hypothetical scenario, seeing as I have a lot of light sets with a ton of lights. Maybe I should throw them out ?!
Unfortunately, I have forgotten which light set I was using to produce the image in my first posting in this thread.
Just need to get rid of those glowing artifacts, and produce a truly realistic render - traditionally it has been nostril or inner mouth glow, but in my case I have been getting glowing lower lip, lower eyelids and tear ducts.
Thanks again.
regards,
Andrew
