Hi guys and goils. thanks to everyone who voted for me, excellent challenge all round.
For the next challenge im thinking something involving use of colour,
-one colour images, any style etc. but predominanatly one coloured, although any colour you like (a red image, or blue image etc)
-a riot of colour, again any style etc
Or something more bryce specific like "what kind of image you can make only using cubes?" or maybe "only primitives".
What you think??
TheBryster posted Wed, 09 July 2008 at 3:48 PM Forum Moderator
Primitives? Don't get me started on primitives.
It's been a long time since we saw a Black & White challenge.

I like the Idea based around colour..........something like everything is made from greys, or yellows, or red, etc, or theming each individual piece to stick to a general set of colours, like a black and white, etc.
Cool Idea so far....can't wait to see where this goes.

Thunder, don't sit out for that, dude. I know I did for the Architecture challenge, but that's due to 3 reasons. The major one being that I SUCK at modeling. I mean suck rocks here. Second, I didn't have even a good concept until the last 48 hours of the contest... and I 'm working 60 hours a week so I have no time to do it.
Besides, my application of the model broke so many of my personal rules for creating a scene... it was gross. I'll be trying to do it again some time....
But don't just sit out because you don't feel you can compete. This is when you usually learn the most, when you're driven to do something like this. I didn't get noticed till like the 3rd challenge I participated in. And the one I may have come in 3rd in, was never tallied. (nudge nudge "creepy, 06" nudge) ;c) Just give it time my friend, sometimes it just takes the right inspiration and timing and you can win it all.
Well, that's my pep talk.
To the OP, I'm intreagued with a monochrome "color" and white comp, but can't that just as easily be done in photoshop? Primitive only I guess I'll get to do my first sphere over water finally... LOL
dhama posted Thu, 10 July 2008 at 3:49 AM
I consider my last effort to have been more worthy than 2 points, but not everyone thinks like me, or likes what I like, so i'll keep plugging on, and so should you ThunderStone.
I like the challenge of making something just from cubes in those suggestions Lown.

Ok then, the theme could be "Monochrome". Any style of image, any imports etc. but rendered in bryce. But the main focus/piont of the image should be the use of colour and, just to throw down a gauntlet, NO colour correctional postwork. Obviously this means black and white images as well, bit hard to have a "black" image with no white in it::-)
Hows that sound??
Lown posted Thu, 10 July 2008 at 12:24 PM
Just as an addition, could be NO postwork at all, except for resizing and sig!

Ok, slightly confused mate. It's 'Monochrome' but the main focus of the image should be the use of colour....

Sounds good!
Imports?
Lown posted Thu, 10 July 2008 at 5:15 PM
Yeah, imports are fine.
What i mean is images that are predominantly one colour and the colour sets the mood and is the focus of the piece.
For example,
-a green forest
-a white snowy mountain
-a load of blue bottles
-yellow flowers
-red bricks
you get the idea.
Maybe monochrome is not such a good theme name.

ICM, yeah thats like what i mean, but also to have some kind of connection/relationship between the colour and the subject of the piece.
Wow this is more difficult to explain than i thought!
RodsArt posted Fri, 11 July 2008 at 5:10 PM
dhama: Nope, I found the Monochromatic Art sources.....as most are listed in the form of Photography.
Lown: I think I know what you're talking about from this and previous description.
A symbiosis between color and scenery theme......IE
ICE - Snow - Cold = Blue - Gray - White
Fire - Heat - Etc = Orange - Red - Yellow
Forest - Fields - Flowers - Etc = Green - Brown - and a plethera of color choices based on the Foliage, like a scene of Roses could be based in Pink
Ocean - Waterfalls - Rivers - Rain = Blues - Grays - Whites - Or color scheme based on Reflection.
Could call it "Colour of Art"

Lown, How does this look before I post it?
"Colour of Art"
-one colour images, any style etc. but predominanatly one coloured, although any colour you like (a red image, or blue image etc)
Any style of image, any imports etc. but rendered in bryce. But the main focus/point of the image should be the use of colour and NO postwork at all, except for resizing and sig!
For example,
-a green forest - Mostly Greens
-a white snowy mountain - Whites, subtle blues & grays
-a load of blue bottles - SE (self explanatory)
-yellow flowers - Mostly Yellow
-red bricks - SE
IMPORTS - YES
POSTWORK - NO
