i don't know if anyone else has noticed but the forum banner(s) have been there for quite some time!!!
anyone interested in a little "PS skills" competition??
maybe have a little contest to make a new forum banner? - no prize. just your banner proudly displayed in the forum header (for "however long"...)
if you're interested, reply to the thread. if there is enough interested members i'll post the specs.
just thought it'd be good to kick up the dust in the forum,
:)

It's about time! Wasn't it supposed to be every few months or something like that? Not that the banners aren't great but it's time.

banner comp!!!
L8RDAZE posted Sat, 23 August 2008 at 5:48 PM
I like what the Photography forum did a while back. Members submitted banners according to posted guidelines in a designated thread and then the Mods used them in a revolving fashion. Everytime the forum is refreshed a new banner is shown at random. Same for the gallery banner I think as well.
Maybe get more participation this way...just an idea!
Take it easy,

I always thought the rotating banners from the Bryce areas were neat. Then that way everyone got a shot at having their take on it seen if the admin thought the presentation was ok.

This was done in the Poser forums and our banners are rotated there. Everyone who submitted their banner actually won because all banners are used and rotated. I like seeing different banners and seeing my own up there too. :) I'd be interested if it's something I can manage. I use Photoshop regular.

i'll just have to come up with some guidelines and toss it to the winds and see what happens!

Any updates on when this will start?

Is there a specific set pixel count/ratio?
The one I'm currently seeing above is 500x170.
We could just create them and post them here - and the mods can feel free to pick and choose from this thread.
Thoughts?

Dunno if I'd have time myself, but the rotating banners idea sounds like a good one to me, nice to have a little variety.
I've ordered CS4 Production Suite, so if my student ID is accepted, and I see no reason why not, as all the guidelines and FAQ's etc seem to be saying that University Student ID cards ARE acceptable - which is what I've got.
So once the Adobe People come back into the office after New Year's I should get a confirmation email...
Just have to wait for it to arrive then...
I've been using CS2 at Uni, so I'm hoping CS4 will not be too great a leap forward.
Otherwise I just have Elements 5 myself, but I've also been using Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X2 for quite a while, hopefully all that will make learning CS4 not to great a problem.
I'd like to have a go at a banner, are there any guidelines for image size? Theme?

It would be great. However, this thread looks like it's gone dead. It's a shame there's not more photoshop stuff to do around here.
thundering1 posted Tue, 06 January 2009 at 2:19 PM
I'd love to do a "here's a bunch of images to use - what would you do in PS with them?" kinda thing, but the problem is getting the images to use license free - cannot distribute them, and by "handing them out" here on the Forums, you're redistributing them...
I think when I get some free time, I'm just gonna start making banners and posting them here - we wanna do something as simple as that?
Like I noticed above, the banner at the top here is 500x170 - I'll just start from there unless any other numbers get tossed out in this thread.

Sorry, I meant to say that my reply with the images in it, was directed at Thundering1's post quoted above, images for a "play with them" competition.

That gives me an idea - I can set up a secret page on my site for just this purpose. Put the link on this page, fill it with a bunch of images and let everyone play just like Fran did.
Anyone with a personal site can do the same, or just send me the images and I'll put it on mine for all to share.
Thoughts?
FranOnTheEdge posted Sun, 08 March 2009 at 1:16 PM
Oh I haven't done anything with those images, they are just as they came out of the camera.
In case anyone wanted to do what you mentioned, and needed images to play with.
