I installed Poser 9 on my new computer.. (legal copy, service release 3)

The figures do not respond to the mouse.  I cant pose them.

Poser 9? What happened to Poser 8? I only upgraded from Poser 7 to  Poser Pro a couple of weeks ago...

Seriously though... what figures are you using?

Can you pose the figure by selecting a body part from the drop down menu, displaying the parameters window, and spinning the Bend/Twist/etc... dials?

When you try to use the mouse to pose a figure, are you first selecting one of the movement icons in the controls palette?

This is one difficult thing to advise. Maybe the installation is corrupted or your pc is not powerful enough to run it.  If you finally run out of steam, try reinstalling Poser 9....

wha.... Poser 9?! Goodness! It's Poser 9!!!!

T****** it please! That's a leak from Smith Micro!!!! XD

I can move the figures parts by using the dials
I can move the entire figure in different dirctions.with the mouse

What I can't do is move body parts with the mouse..

PS: didn't you get Poser 97 yet or is it just for preferred customers?????  :)
or did my finger slip on the key.LOL

*resurrects from the dead after hearing Poser 97*

try putting your mouse pointer in the abdomen>rightclick>select>abdomen. Then hold shift and left click move the part.

Look on Figure>Lock Figure to see if it is checked. If it is checked, remove it.

Also look on Object>Lock Actor, uncheck that too. This locks a specific body part so you might check every limb to see if one is locked or not.

Select  the Chain Break in the Editing Tools (see pic). It will show which body part has a chain lock. Unselect it by clicking the chain icons but leave the hip part.

I rarely move body parts with the mouse, though sometimes it's useful with the legs; to do that, I have to turn off IK first.

IsaoShi posted Mon, 18 August 2008 at 2:06 PM

Can you post a complete screenshot of your Poser screen when you try to move a body part with your mouse?

It's a long shot, but maybe it will give someone a clue why this is happening... or rather, not happening.

Thank you all for the kindly  advice.

I think I will delete and rerinstall Poser. Something must be wrong in the way it installed last time.

If IK is on the body parts won't move.
