i am using transparency on apollo boots.

when using AO i get this

it is the same if using AO in the material room or on the light.

I have also found that transparency maps cause this. The transparent parts of the material are not invisible to raytracing, and cause AO on nearby surfaces - see attached example, this is Rhiannon's Elsa Wylde with part of her skirts transparent.

The only way I found to get rid of it is to make the item invisible to raytracing. Trouble is, it then completely disappears in reflections.

I second this little quirk with the AO on Transparent mesh. Forgot to send it to Tech last time (P6)

Ice-boy,
Did you make sure Trans edge and falloff  were set to 0.00 in matroom? This should get rid of the black...

yes i did.
yes i guess the problem is that the mesh is not invisible to AO.

to bad.

Whoa. This is the opposite of what I"m used to. Is this a new behavior with SR3?

I (not too long ago) posted a bug with SM. The bug was: any object with the slightest amount of transparency on it is invisible to AO.

Now you guys are showing the opposite!

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

i dont have SP3. so this is confusing.

now i know what happens. the AO is not from the boot but from the leg.

bb... I first came across this in P7 SR2. I posted a thread about it but I can't seem to find it now.

(edit) - found it, way back in May...
