I think the earlier thread shows that I have been loosing touch a bit with the Carrara Vertex Room.

Anyway, here is a bit of fun I had this pm with the MoI/Carrara6Pro combination.

And the render.

Really cool! Can you send a printscreen from the wireframe mesh?

I am resisting taking up modeling, as it looks addictive. So I will comment on the render, which is so well done. That luscious realistic fur looks photographic.

Carrara fur is very good... can be better in future but its very realistic now.

It looks like MOI has a good exporter! Fur looks like mink! Well done. BTW, I've seen your recommendations about 3DCoat here and elsewhere, checked it out, and now I've decided to buy it before Sept. 15th 'cause the price is going up. Voxel-based sculpting sounds like a hell of a feature for the next version.

Thanks all.

DKDantas
There is no wire mesh as such. The imported 3dm file is just in 4 parts much as shown on the MoI screen grab. (Outer shell, inner shell, "fur" beading, visor)

The parts are like primitives in the Assembly room and would have to be converted to be acceptable in the Vertex Room. Note that I don't use UVs in my renderings.

I hope the screen grab helps in my explanations.

And, a bit more crazy fun rendering in Carrara!

Both MoI and 3D Coat are by one man geniuses.

Both are on forums to help customers or up date the apps with new things customers request, almost on an hourly basis. Staggering support for brilliantly conceived 3D tools.

If of interest to anyone,  I have made a little pdf of some of the simple construction moves in MoI and enclosed the resulting .car file. (It's a bit cleaner than my original effort--learning all the time!)

PM me if you would like it. The zip file is 528kb.

Hi
Just like to say I have been using Moi since last Christmas and its wonderfully quick and easy to use.  I think I might have given up modelling without Moi.  It has a friendly forum too.

I cannot find the option to import a 3dm file in Carrara.

Hi UVDan
Assuming you are using Moi, you need to export your model as an OBJ file.   Moi pretty much always makes an nice mesh and you can play with the export options if it doesn't.

Carrara readily imports 3DM (Open Nurbs) files-----see attached

Thanks.  I will definitely have to see how Carrara handles Rhino files.
