I've been trying to follow the threads on this but they keep getting buried. And (being a mush-brain lately) I keep losing my bookmarks...grrr. So could someone who has the knowledge about such stuff please help? I've created external runtimes and am ready to move some stuff. 1.Do I leave the Geometeries where they are or do I move them to the new runtime folder to correspond to the character set? I.E. Poser Folders/V3 Character Addons/Runtime/ 2.Can I move the character files safely? 3.In the pose folder, the V3/M3/V4 !!!Daz and !!!morphs, should I leave them where they are? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's your choice to move the Geometries and Textures to a new Runtime or keep them where they are. Both works fine and when you change an existing installation the last solution woulb be what I would prefer. When you make a completely new installation, you have the geom and text files in your new runtimes.

No prob when you move the character files, even V4.

The folder !DAZ with the Deltas and ChanVis must stay in your main runtime so, don't touch them.

I second that

In Poser7 I put everything but !DAZ and python scripts in an external Runtime.  You will give up some speed in pose loads and material room.. mho

Worth it for the ease of reinstalls without fuss

Thank you both for the reply.
I thought it might be workable but wanted to be sure so I can avoid a complete reinstall for a bit.

My main runtime is soooo overclogged...ugh.
So I'm organizing where I can find my goodies.

Have a wonderful week. :)

You may also which to create a dummy Poser.exe file for each external runtime.

Open a text editor,, create a new file and Save As poser.exe.
Now put that into each external runtime.
Makes it easier for poser to find poser .

I have something like 60 External Runtimes.
Only Python and absolutely needed things are in my Main P7 Runtime.

Hmmm, thanks for that tip.
I've already got several runtimes created and some stuff moved.
So far they work fine.

Sure will make it easier to find what I need this way. :)

It is almost impossible to try and keep track of some many runtime folders without a structured, logical arrangement that works for you.  I tend to create runtimes for projects and load content specifically used for that project.  Once done, the runtime folder is either transferred to disk and deleted off the HD or completely deleted if certain I will never go back to it.  The most used content get their own runtime folders for easy access (i.e., Poses, Props, individual characters, Themed, etc.)

Each version of Poser has it's own External Runtime to Poser 7.
Each Major FigureCharacter has it's own External runtime.
Animals have their own
Birds have their own
Vehicles have their own
Buildings their own
etc etc etc etc..............
Works very easily for me.

I never install from and exe, zip, rar etc directly to a runtime.
I expand to a blank folder.
Modify Fioler Names and Folder Tree to my taste
The Cut & Paste to an external Runtime.

I generally convert MAT Pose files to mt5 or mc6 Material Room Files.
My Pose Library is just poses and mods.
