Hiya everyone

I'm a newbie to Poser 7 and all I've managed to do in it so far is delete the default character and apparently the only way to get him back is to uninstall then reinstall the whole programme.  I don't mind doing that but which files do I save before uninstalling as I've spent a lot of money on figures and clothes etc and I don't want to loose that!!

Thank you!!

Mandy

How do you mean "Deleted" ?
If you've just set poser up to load with an empty scene on startup then you should find the guy in the figures library of your main Poser Runtime somewhere. (I forget where he is and the 'puter is a bit busy otherwise I'd check for you)

When you say "....delete the default character..", are you physically deleting the character from your runtime folder or deleting the character from the preview window in your application?  You need to be specific in order to help.

Generally, 3rd party content would be safe if you uninstall the application.  The Poser folder and the runtime Folder within will not disappear, only the application components.  Uninstallation will only target components originally installed with the program not anything else added afterwards unless they happen to be Service Release.

OH ..... NOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo................................... :scared:

You don't need to uninstall, etc.  ... just try this.

[menu] "File" >>> "New"

Unless you changed something in the [menu] "Edit" >>> "General Preferences..." options.
If you did ... set it back to "Launch to factory state" and then >>> [menu] "File" >>> "New"

cheers,

Here is a mini essay that will help you. There are some tutorials geared for the new user towards the bottom.

I followed a tutorial ages ago that said to delete the default character and he would be there the next time I opened Poser so I clicked (single left click) on the character and hit the delete button (the small square one above the arrow keys)  and that was the last I saw of him!  :o(

I don't even know what a runtime folder is so I'm guessing I just deleted him from the screen?

Thank you for letting me know everything will be safe!

actually, if you ever decide you want to uninstall poser, make sure you have a backup of your runtime.  Poser will delete it's runtime when it is uninstalled (which is rather stupid if you ask me but I didn't write it)  This has caught a number of people out.

there are a number of threads in this forum about it if you search for them
