Subject: Vue 6 Studio Pro...this is turning into a nightmare

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2008 at 10:12 PM · edited Wed, 14 August 2024 at 7:16 PM

I've never had so mucj trouble with a soteare installation since DOS ... un f'n believable.
I downloaded the dowload file...ok
launched it..downloaded the huge file..it downloaded..took a long time, even on 10meg download cable..it verified and extracted.

I then installed..took nearly an hour. Launched the program and it came up with an error and said to reinstall.

Reinstalled...took another nearly 2 hours...tried to run...same error.
Deleted all files and started over.

Downloaded again...this time, at the end of the extraction, it came up with another error...can't even remeber now, but it was something about corrupt files or something.

This is just not good.

and now I'm going to bed...no time now to download yet again.for the 3rd time.
I'm really happy I only paid $125 for this upgrade..but I'm already very close to getting a refund. I don;t have time for this shit.

ok... is it an upgrade from esprit or easle?

if its an upgrade from esprit - there is nothing to download.  they should have sent you the module licenses, and you input them directly into vue.

if its the full-blown package, i dunno whats going on - but if you are downloading using firefox - STOP.  use internet explorer or something else... firefox tends to corrupt larger downloads.

good luck

When needing tech help ALWAYS give a smuch detials on your system as possible, otherwise it may prevent useful help :)

PC or mac?
What operating system?
CPU

And Vue should NOT take that long to install!
must be something seriously wrong.
try off antivirsus and antispyware stuff, see if that helps.

and if you have Norton antivirus: BIN the useless thing, ugh!! worst POS ever for screwing yer PC up :(

Since you don't ask for any help, I suppose the reason for your post is just to vent frustration. Sorry you're having such a tough time.

Here are some thoughts:

  • Why don't you contact e-on support?
  • I suppose you've downloaded an iso. You can  mount it w/out burning a CD. Tell us what OS you're on and we can provide you some help.
  • I believe if it's an upgrade, you may need to insert your original CD.
  • If you get an error, write it down and post it to support, or here, and perhaps someone can help you.

Also, there's no need to use profanity on these forums. Many time young folks and those who are offended easily read these posts.

Quote - firefox tends to corrupt larger downloads.

Is this documented anywhere? I use Firefox to download large iso's all the time without any problems. (WinXP)

lol...  - i run into it sometimes when downloading freebies, and the occasional daz download - it'll appear to download everything, but when you go to unzip or run the .exe (in daz's case), it gives you a warning that the file is corrupt.   its annoying, but thankfully for me, doesnt usually happen the second time i go to download.

i have found it said somewhere... just cant remember where LOL.

sorry cant be more help with that one.

what's an iso?

i bought the Vue 5 esprit to Vue 6 Pro Studio upgrade. I have an AMD 64 3200+ 2 gig ram, with 40 gig open on my hard drive. ATI AIW 9600 video....a system I built in 2004, so its old. Use IE 7, Win XP32.
I timed the 4th install attempt...took 55 minutes...antivirus and spy software off.
The download this time went extremely fast...and it WORKED !!!!

There was a message that popped up and stated my video card drivers were not recognized. Hopefully that won't create too much of a problem, but the software finally downloaded and installed. Hopeflly it all installed correctly.

Sorry about the foul language, but I really toned it down...considering I'm an old sailor, and the way I felt when I posted the original post, I could have laid out much more, and believe when I tell you the kids have heard worse, and use it too, unless they're under 2.

lol...

understandable about the frustration.

glad its working so far =D

as for video card drivers... just play with the video settings and hopefully you'll find something that works for you...

as for an ISO - there is no way on earth i could even begin to try to explain it... perhaps someone will step up to the plate here?

Glad to hear you got it downloaded and installed.  Could be that e-on's server was overloaded.  The sale ended Sunday, so may be lots of people were trying to download.

If you notice problems with random crashes - it could be the video card.  First thing would be to un-check the enable background draw thread box on the File, Options, Display Options tab.

No worries mate :)
I'm from  around Glasgow...my granny was the most wonderful soul you could eve rmeet, and she swore like a trooper, hehe! ;)

New system would help, but I know, pennies are hurting nowadays :(
Go Nvidia if you do upgrade. Much more stable than ATI with Vue (it is,folks).
Ant Intel is a lot better than AMD, currently.
:)
