Just saw this in the store... GND4 has been updated! There a softer, really cute morph, makeup options added, some extra morphs... looks like a nice update overall.

The new download should be available in your accounts, and personally, I can't wait to play with her. Hope Conniekat's outfit is coming soon now :)

thanks for the update
the new makeups and breast morphs are fantastic

Blackhearted posted Sat, 27 September 2008 at 12:21 AM

no problem.

the wonderbra morph is intended for clothing that supports it. im working on a lingerie pack now with a push-up bra tailored specifically for it -- and its included in the base Athletic pack so that any other merchant making something like a bra or corset or dress can make use of it to make more fitted clothing.

im finishing up some clothing packs for her now, however i wanted to polish several things on the base Athletic figure beforehand so hence the update.

have a great weekend folks.
cheers,
-gabriel

All I can say is you have a knack for fine detail, the true shape of a woman -- nope, no V4 look-a-like there.  Can't wait to 'test drive' the new update.

Thanks a lot BH,

JB

One thing to mention here. I want to point out that this update will over write the original GND4 face morph. While I love the look of the new updated face, I've also grown to love the original face. BH suggests saving a copy of the V4 Cr2 with the original GND morph t protect the old face, which I did as soon as I read about it in the readme. Since I know that not everyone checks the README files before loading up a product I thought I'd mention this here.

Gabe I have to compliment you on the beauty of this character, and the new makeups are a great addition.

bah, the new face is better :)

Blackhearted posted Sat, 27 September 2008 at 1:29 PM

oh, and i got a couple emails asking about this, i explained it in the readme but ill go over it again.

if you are loading old GND4 clothing, and you get pokethrough on the calf, turn OFF the calf JCM by clicking !CALFJCM_REM in your poses folder.
same goes for shoes - if you are using standard V4 shoes or older GND4 shoes, and you get pokethrough, simply select the BODY element and turn the new FootPetite morph to 0. you can also experiment with different values between 0-1 to change the size of her feet.

do all the old clothes for the original GND4 work on the update (ie no pokethrough)???
and i have to say, excellent work BVH, i only use your figure and no one elses, truely awesome

Letterworks posted Sun, 28 September 2008 at 7:26 AM

As far as I've been able to tell so far if you turn off the Calf flex JCM and set the foot morph to zero the older clothing and shoes work fine. The body changes seem to be in fine detail and the texture rather than gross changes to the shape. With the calf flex active stokings (as in my MiniDress set) and some pants (those that are tighter fitting) will poke thru as the calf flexes. Open toed shoes (again such as the ones in the MiniDress set) don;t fit so well with the smaller foot morph of the update, but work fine if that morph is dialed to zero. Oh and the "Wonderbra" morph is new and, as far as I know, is not yet supported in any clothing for GNDV4.

yes
see the post with the calves pic its explained in there. basically for v4 shoes, or any older GND clothing you can just turn some of the new stuff off for full compatibility. i wanted to avoid forcing merchants who had made GND4 stuff to go back and update their packs.

and i am not BVH!
gah! :(

ah, mike beat me to it. thanks!

yeah theres nothing supporting the wonderbra morph YET but its coming, i am working on it right now and i think conniekat is including at least some of the new stuff in her pack too.

I have found that for perfect feet, set her petite foot morph somewhere between .500 and .700. I have not experimented with shoes, because I would likely just turn the morph off entirely when she wears shoes. BH has done a great job with this mesh!

kobaltkween posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 9:07 AM

how does she work with other morphs?  personally, i love her detail, but i like variation.  that is, i'm hoping she could solve some of my problems with V4's general lack of detail.  also, is there a chance you'll be making a new Irina?  i much prefer her physique to the GND line.  just a personal preference.  i still use Irina whenever i want a body that looks great in every pose i put her in.

oh!  and it was mentioned in the copy but not the file list, so i thought i'd get clarification: does she come with a specularity map?

Blackhearted posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 9:24 AM

yes she comes with a spec/bump.

as for combining with other morphs, it depends. many morph combos look good, but since shes so different than V4 some morphs may look wierd, so use your discretion.

Irina will probably wait until Daz releases Stephanie 4 :D
in the meantime there will be other GNDs.

nyguy posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 9:43 AM

I have tried a combo of GND and Daz's un"Elite" morphs and got no so good results, but did get a unique look combining GND with A4.

Some of the Morph++ shapes work with GND at LOW levels. However she has a very unique body shape that is a LOT different form V4's which is why I make clothing specifically for her unique shape. V4 is rather a generic body shape (as ar the Poser G2 figures) which is made to take additional morphs while a drastically sculpted and unique character usually doesn;t blend well with morphs meant to be used on the generic shape.

kobaltkween posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 10:05 AM

Blackhearted and nyguy: thanks for the clarification!  yeah, i was thinking she was so specific and far from the default that other morphs might have some serious issues.  so if there's no Stephanie 4, there won't be a new Irina?  that's too bad.  seeing that they've already released an Aiko 4, i'm thinking they might not do a new Stephanie.  which i'd only regret due to not having a new Irina.  i don't actually like S3 much, just Irina 2.0. >;D

thanks for your response too!  i understand.  i wish that someone would just release a detail pack for her.

Blackhearted posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 10:11 AM

for the most part, people wanting to alter figures for a totally unique look should try experimenting with the morph tool in poser.
when it was first added i thought it was worthless, but the more i use it the more im starting to think its the most underrated and useful tool in Poser: not just for customizing your figures pre-pose, but AFTER posing as well. for example if you have a figure sitting on a chair you can deform their butt to look more naturally like theyre sitting. flex a bicep on a character holding a sword, go over a posed figure and flex their muscles naturally, adjust breasts for gravity, etc.

there is no way you can make something like GND with the morph tool because its too precise as well as spanning body groups (the current morph tool doesnt work across joints), but you can customize it as well as tweak poses for a whole new level of realism.

cheers,
-gabriel

kobaltkween posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 10:47 AM

sigh  there are many reasons i should use the morph tool.  unfortunately, i never did buy Poser 7.  the morph tool was a great reason to do so, but even now it seems like a better idea to save my money for Vue (i swear, i will get it for myself one day).

for now, i'll have to make do with Blender's sculpt tool.  not nearly as simple of a workflow, but at least it can make FBMs.

Have not tried this but can't you just export your figure and reimort it as a single object? Then use the morph tool to span or tool  over groups. You could save off  material groups to matroom ahead of exporting.

Nice render of her feet, btw.

Blackhearted posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 3:34 PM

in my experience when you start doing stuff like that: merging groups and then re-splitting them - you get all sortsof crazy stuff happening like hedgehog-like models with exploded spiked polys.
any change to the winding order of the .OBJ and poser blows it apart.
any change to a SINGLE vertice and your morph wont load.

so no, i wouldnt recommend it. also, even if the morph tool did span groups, it would take you eons to morph fine detail with it. its also not good at working on morphs near the centreline of the object since when you mirror them youll get a nasty crease.
what it really excels at is after you set up a render and do your previews, you can go in and poke around at the model a bit and make it look more natural before you do your final render. luckily with V4, the group lines are not where you would think: for example her thigh/shin group line is a few inches ABOVE her knee, letting you edit the knee joint a bit with the morph tool if you are careful.

you could even pull off something like a bit of a crease/skin roll effect on the abdomen of a bending figure, for example. morphs can be mirrored and saved as dials very easily.

richardson posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 3:44 PM

I think we are talking about 2 things. I'm not saying to export a figure in default pose out of poser (to reimport as a spawn)  but as a posed object. It comes back as a single object so, no seams.

I,m getting myself into a corner where I'll have to prove my point. I do this with Zbrush. You sculpt the posed object,, import the uvs, reimport into Poser.,, load a material group in matroom... render.

The morph brush should do the same on a single object,, in theory.

Blackhearted posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 4:08 PM

ah ok, i get it.

i think if you were to go to that much trouble, it would be better to just work on it externally in another more powerful app. for example Silo3D can be had dirt cheap, and some 3D apps are free or cheaper, and it would give people the opportunity to morph with more precision AND experiment with dynamic clothing, etc.

IMO the main convenience of the morph tool is that it is always right there, loaded, ready to go -- so you can touch things up right in poser while you are posing and rendering. once you start getting into exporting it loses its appeal since there are much better apps out there for this.

richardson posted Mon, 29 September 2008 at 4:44 PM

No. I would NOT build a gnd in poser with the morphbrush but you mentioned sitting poses and spanning seams.. I've read here in the forums that a shortfall of the morphbrush was its inability to cross over material seams. New people get confused as there are several techniques and reaons for the export process in and put of poser or the Geometry folder.

Ok,,, Itested this and it works. Never used the morphbrush before but it will roll over material groups if you export the mesh and reimport it.No reason to not do this.. 20 seconds

I'll get off your thread now..;)
