Hey All,
New to posting here at renderosity and I'd like to participate in leaving critiques for people but I'm unsure what the protocol is - I mean, do people leave constructive criticism like ' the light is harsh, try open shade...' or is it more of a supportive nature?
thanks,
Julia

Hi Julia..
Welcome to the forum..
When folks upload an image here, there are several choices regarding comments..
You can "request" critical or non-critical (or both) for comments..
Now that being said....It does not mean, your going to get critical comments on your images..
It's hard to say..some folk enjoy critique and some don't
My best advice is use tact..
There is a critique forum here..but it's mostly 3D work..

We did run a weekly critique feature in this forum..Sadly few participated, and it didn't last long..
I know I really didn't give you a straight answer, but there isn't one..
Welocme aboard...

Hello Julia,
I have never seen any hostile comments in here but I do feel that constructive criticism would be welcome. However most commentary has been overly nice which sounds positive but is not at all helpful to growth. I am guilty of it as well. Don't want to hurt feelings. That's my opinion.

Welcome Julia,
I think most people enjoy a good critic and welcome the help, but I have personally been slammed by someone who misunderstood my comment because of a language barrier. There are people from all over the world here and choice of words have to be taken into consideration. I live in the states and use a lot of slang, not good sometimes, so I often will only critic when it's actually asked for (not just a checked box).
The hardest thing for me is keeping up with everything that goes on here, so I sometimes have to limit my comments to short and sweet!
I hope that helps and see you around!

Welcome JuliaSG, I have to say one thing about critic, most people ask for.....
**The artist of this image has indicated the following preference for comments:
**Both critical and non-critical comments are welcomed.
But to be honest most people don't want anything but praise, or at least praise outweighing critical comment. This was true in the Bryce gallery at least, but since i'm new in the photographic forum, I haven't yet seen a problem like that.
So as pushinfaders suggests; use tact.
Excellent start to your gallery.
